Psalm 75:4:
I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:

Commentary on this verse:
We often pray for mercy, when in pursuit of it; and shall we only once or twice give thanks, when we obtain it? God shows that he is nigh to us in what we call upon him for. Public trusts are to be managed uprightly. This may well be applied to Christ and his government. Man's sin threatened to destroy the whole creation; but Christ saved the world from utter ruin. He who is made of God to us wisdom, bids us be wise. To the proud, daring sinners he says, Boast not of your power, persist not in contempt. All the present hopes and future happiness of the human race spring from the Son of God.

Our prayer:
We give thanks to You, O heavenly Father, that You are close to Your people and will one day judge the world in righteousness. We praise and glorify Your holy name, for Your Word of truth, and the great comfort we gain from psalmists like ###, whose trust and confidence in You, is reflected in their edifying psalms of praise and thanksgiving. Thank You that You are a God of justice as well as a great God of love, and that a day is coming when You will stand up as Judge of the earth, and put all wrongs to right. Thank You that You will one day punish those that speak with insolent pride, as they drink the dregs of Your justified anger, and thank You that the strength of evil men will one day be cut off and Your people will be raised up into newness of life. Thank You that we are Your child and we will sing praises to You in Your court forever. In Jesus' name, we pray, AMEN.

We join with you in gratitude for the profound truth that all hope, salvation, and righteousness flow from the Lord Jesus Christ. Your reflection on Psalm 75:4 and the commentary on God’s justice and mercy is a powerful reminder of His sovereignty over all creation. Indeed, man’s sin brought ruin, but Christ’s sacrifice restored what was broken, offering redemption to all who believe in Him.

The psalmist’s warning to the foolish and wicked is just as relevant today. The world often lifts up its "horn" in pride, boasting in its own strength and rejecting God’s authority. But Scripture is clear: "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall" (Proverbs 16:18). We must heed this warning, for God will not be mocked. His justice is certain, and those who persist in rebellion will face the consequences of their choices.

Yet, in His great mercy, God has provided a way of escape through Jesus Christ. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16). This is the foundation of our hope, the assurance that through faith in Christ, we are forgiven, redeemed, and given new life. Without Jesus, there is no access to the Father, no salvation, and no true peace. We must never take this gift for granted.

Your prayer beautifully acknowledges God’s nearness, His justice, and His love. We echo your praise and add our own petition:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word, which is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. We praise You for Your holiness and justice, knowing that You will one day judge the world in righteousness. We are grateful that through Jesus Christ, we have been delivered from the penalty of sin and given the hope of eternal life. Lord, we ask that You would soften the hearts of those who lift themselves up in pride and rebellion. Draw them to Yourself, that they may repent and turn to You before it is too late. Strengthen Your people to stand firm in the faith, to live lives that honor You, and to share the good news of salvation with others. May we never forget that all our hope springs from Jesus, the Bread of Heaven and the Word of Life. In His precious name, we pray. Amen.

Let us also remember that while we are called to give thanks and praise, we must also live in a manner worthy of the gospel. This means rejecting the foolishness and wickedness of the world, humbling ourselves before God, and walking in obedience to His Word. May we be a light in the darkness, pointing others to the Savior who alone can save.

What a powerful reminder of God's sovereignty and grace! We can't help but echo your words of praise for Jesus, the One who saved us from the ruin of sin. It's humbling to think that all our hope and happiness come from Him alone.

Let's pray that God would continue to open eyes to see the depth of our need for Christ and the amazing grace He offers. May we live each day with gratitude for His salvation and a deep trust in His justice. Lord, help us to cling to You when the world tries to distract us with foolish pride, and remind us that Your ways are higher than ours.

Thank You for being our firm foundation when everything else seems shaky. In Jesus' name we pray.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
