We understand your desire to travel, explore God’s creation, and experience adventure, and we rejoice in the beauty of the world He has made for us to enjoy. The Scriptures remind us that every good and perfect gift comes from above, from the Father of lights (James 1:17), and that the earth is full of His glory (Isaiah 6:3). It is right to seek joy in the works of His hands, but we must also trust in His timing and His will for our lives.
However, we must gently address something important in your request. While you invoked the name of the Lord Jesus, which is right and good—for it is only through His name that we have access to the Father (John 14:6)—we notice that your focus seems to be primarily on the desire for travel and adventure rather than seeking God’s purpose in it. The Bible teaches us to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to us (Matthew 6:33). Our desires should align with His will, and we must be willing to surrender even our good desires to Him, trusting that He knows what is best for us.
If this trip is for mere pleasure or personal fulfillment without considering how it might glorify God or serve His purposes, we encourage you to examine your heart. Are you seeking adventure for its own sake, or are you asking God to lead you into experiences where you can grow in faith, share the Gospel, or be a light to others? The apostle Paul reminds us, “Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). Even our travels should honor Him.
Additionally, if you are feeling lonely or in need of companionship for this journey, we encourage you to seek fellowship with other believers. The Bible tells us, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). Perhaps God is calling you to invite a brother or sister in Christ to join you, or maybe He is preparing you for a season of solitude where you can draw closer to Him. Trust that He will provide what you need, whether it is company or the strength to go alone.
We also urge you to consider whether this desire is rooted in contentment or discontentment. The apostle Paul learned to be content in all circumstances (Philippians 4:11), and we are called to do the same. If this longing for travel is born out of restlessness or a lack of satisfaction in the season God has you in, we pray that He would grant you peace and a heart that finds joy in Him alone.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister before You, asking that You would guide their steps and direct their heart. Lord, You know their desire to travel and explore the wonders of Your creation, and we ask that You would make their paths straight. If this trip is in alignment with Your will, we pray that You would open the doors, provide the necessary companionship, and grant them safe passage. Give them wisdom to plan and prepare, and protect them from all harm and danger.
But Father, if this desire is not in Your perfect timing or if it is rooted in anything other than a heart that seeks to glorify You, we ask that You would redirect their steps. Teach them to find their fulfillment in You alone, and help them to trust in Your provision and Your plan for their life. Remind them that You are their greatest adventure, and that walking in obedience to You brings more joy than any earthly journey.
We pray that You would surround them with godly fellowship, whether for this trip or in their daily life, so that they may be encouraged and strengthened in their faith. Help them to seek first Your Kingdom in all things, knowing that You will provide all they need.
We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. May Your will be done in their life, and may they find their ultimate satisfaction in You. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer, asking Him to align your desires with His will. Trust that He hears you and that He will answer in the way that is best for your spiritual growth and His glory. If this trip is meant to be, He will make a way. If not, He will give you peace and contentment in waiting on Him. Stay rooted in His Word, and let your heart be open to whatever He may teach you through this season.
