Manager

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for me because my manager at my job just left and/or quit today. She was a really wonderful manager and my job has a reputation for having very bad managers. I'm so worried about who they will transfer me to and in disbelief as well. Thank you.

We understand your concern and the uncertainty you're feeling after the departure of your manager. It's natural to feel anxious when facing changes, especially when the future seems unclear. However, we want to remind you that God is in control, and He knows what lies ahead. We are encouraged by the words of Proverbs 3:5-6, which say, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

We also want to assure you that God cares about every aspect of your life, including your work. In Colossians 3:23-24, we are reminded, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ." Your work is an opportunity to serve God, and He will provide for you.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up our sister/brother who is facing uncertainty at work. Lord, we know that You are the ultimate authority, and nothing happens without Your knowledge. We ask that You provide a godly manager who will lead with wisdom, fairness, and kindness. Give our sister/brother peace in the midst of this change and help her/him to trust in Your perfect plan. Remind her/him that her/his work is an opportunity to serve You, and that You will reward her/his faithfulness. We pray for protection over her/his workplace, that it would be a place of integrity, respect, and godly leadership. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

In this time of transition, we encourage you to seek God's wisdom and guidance. Pray for your workplace and the leadership that will be put in place. Ask God to give you a spirit of excellence and a heart that is willing to serve, regardless of who your manager may be. Remember that God is your ultimate provider, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). Keep your focus on Him, and He will direct your steps.

We’re sorry you’re facing this, it’s a real loss when a manager you trust walks out, leaving unknown waters ahead. It makes total sense that you’re worried, especially with your workplace’s track record. When something good gets pulled away, the uncertainty can feel heavier than the job itself.

While you wait, a couple of steadying steps can help. Stay connected with coworkers you respect; transitions feel less lonely when you process them with people who get the environment. Keep a simple record of your own accomplishments, so no matter who comes in, you have a clear sense of the work you’ve done and its value. And each morning, before you walk in, you might silently ask God for the grace to deal honestly with whoever shows up, and for eyes to see any small goodness in the day.

Sometimes these anxious seasons teach us more about who God is for us than about who our next boss will be. Your peace doesn’t have to depend on getting a perfect manager; Jesus walks with you right into the breakroom, the meetings, the unknown. We’ve seen people grow steadier in exactly these moments, not because everything outside got fixed, but because they leaned deeper into Christ’s care.

Jesus, thank you for the good gift that manager was. Please provide someone fair and reasonable. Settle this person’s heart, replace the dread with a quiet trust that you see their work and their worth. Give wisdom if they need to speak up, and patience if the transition takes time. In your name we pray, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The wind of Providence has shifted, and you find yourself in a sudden squall of uncertainty. Yet consider Job; in all his losses he sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. When the hedge was stripped away and the camels driven off, he bowed his head and worshipped. Your trial touches only the change of an overseer, not the graves of children nor the torment of boils, and yet it is a true sorrow, for a gracious manager is a rare mercy. But now the temptation creeps in to fret and to fume, to let your heart flash about like a meteor across the night sky. Be not of a meteoric mind. Can you alter this appointment with all your worrying? Have you not proved that anxiety itself unfits you to meet the very difficulty you dread? The fretting exhausts the spirit and leaves you weaker for the morrow.

Lay the matter before the mercy seat, not with clamoring, but with a childlike confidence. Did not Job intercede for his censorious friends, and was not his own captivity turned when he prayed for them? Pray then for your former manager, that God would bless her going out and her coming in. Pray too for the one yet unknown; entreat the Lord to raise up a gentle shepherd of your work, or at the least to give you grace to bear with a Nabal should such be the portion of your cup. Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him: that is faith’s ultimatum. If the new manager prove a heavy cross, still the Almighty appoints it. Job himself, after all his pleading, put his hand upon his mouth and said, “I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear, but now mine eye seeth Thee; wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.” Who are we that we should contend with our Maker over the brief discomforts of this light affliction? We are wrong, God must be right.

Go forward then, not with a stoic hardness, but with the fresh oil of grace upon your head. He who restored Job’s latter end more than his beginning, giving him twice as much, will not fail you when your heart trusts in Him. Cast this care upon the Lord, for He careth for you, and the peace that passeth understanding shall keep your heart and mind. Let not your eyes be downcast after the manner of those who have no hope; rather look for the new corn of the land and the new wine of the kingdom, for God is ever making all things new for those who wait upon Him.

Do not fear change or loss in such things as these, which are insecure, short-lived, earthly, and vanishing before they appear. What are these good things of employment and pleasant managers, acquired with many toils, compared to those that are immovable, that grow not old, and that even at the time of conflict bring you crowns? You stand now anxious, dreading who may be appointed over you, but such anxiety is a worldly care that you are called to cast off. When God provides, we must not take thought for the morrow, but rather free ourselves from all such distraction, for who feeds us from our youth up but He?

This very loss can become your gain, and you will not be injured, but even benefited, if you receive it with thanksgiving. It is in your power to receive as great a reward as if you had cast away the thing willingly. The one who thankfully suffers wrongs and forcible deprivations is sometimes more admirable than the one who gives spontaneously. For you who, while yet bound to that good manager and longing for such leadership, are now forcibly deprived, if you bear it without murmuring, without blasphemy, without turning to fortune-tellers or bitter speech, but instead give thanks to God, you show that you have first despised the comfort in your heart. Thus you become like one who despises worldly ease, and your soul is trained in self-command.

Even the one who comes next, even if they prove to be a poor manager, is not outside God’s ordering. The authority bears the sword not in vain, being the minister of God to execute wrath on evil and to honor good, even if the person himself does not know it. God has so shaped things. If the new manager proves difficult, and you endure with the patience that servants so often show their earthly masters, bearing insults, not resisting, content with hardship through fear of displeasing the Master, how much more should we do this from the fear of God? Such endurance paves the way for your own virtue. Many first learned godliness through the fear of present hardships. Let the uncertainty quicken you to discern good and evil, not as a babe who puts everything into its mouth, but as one of full age who by reason of use has senses exercised to test the spirits, to cling to what is edifying and reject what is corrupt.

Behold not your toils or your lost ease, but the goodness of God toward you. That goodness should make you tremble into faithful perseverance, knowing that His blessings do not abide with you unmovable if you turn listless. Continue in this faith, giving thanks in all things, and you will find that the Lord who trains you casts out first all care for your daily bread, then all fear of perils, and now even the fear of calumny and disappointing authority. The sting is removed when you trust Him. The disobedient live in perpetual fear, pale and trembling even in what they possess, but the one conscious of no evil, fruitful in thanksgiving, rejoices even here. Walk in that self-command, and let no anxious thought about your next manager master you.

The shock of losing a good manager is real, and the dread of what might come next can settle in quickly. When you have seen how bad things can be, the uncertainty feels heavy. But take heart: the God who numbers the stars and calls each by name is not distant from your daily concerns. He knows the details of your workplace far better than you do, and He sees the end from the beginning.

It is easy to speak out of the little we can see, like Job, who poured out words about things too wonderful for him. Yet God gently reminded him that the foundations of the earth were laid by hands far wiser than ours. The same God who set boundaries for the sea and guides the constellations is watching over your life. He knows your need for a supervisor who is fair and reasonable, and He can move in ways you cannot predict. The Lord Jesus told a worried father, “Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe,” yet He still spoke the word and healed the man’s son from a distance. He does not always need to be physically present to work in a heart or change a situation.

You can trust His care even when the road ahead looks dark. Remember the disciples left their familiar nets and boats to follow Christ, not knowing what each day would hold, and He never failed them. He taught them not to be anxious about what to say or how things would unfold, for the Father was with them. That same Father is with you. Take this concern and lay it before Him, not as a last resort, but as the first step. Ask for a manager who will treat you with justice and kindness, and then leave the outcome in His capable hands. He is about His own business in your life, working things together for your good, even when you cannot trace His hand.
