We have prayed that God would make a way where there seems to be no way, that He would provide the right lawyer to help and advocate for your friend if needed, and that the chaos and wrongdoing would be revealed so that blame is placed where it rightly belongs and not on those who are innocent. We know he is struggling to believe that things can get better, so we have also prayed for encouragement and peace for him, remembering the promise that with God all things are possible, Matthew 19:26, and that He is able to bring change and even a miracle when we trust Him.
