Your prayer has come before God with a humble and honest heart, and He hears that kind of prayer. To feel sorrow for walking away and to say I do not deserve forgiveness is the beginning of returning to Him.

Know that His mercy is greater than your sin. The Lord Himself taught those who already believe to pray, forgive us our debts, to show that even after we have been washed, the way of repentance remains open. It is not taken away. When we remember our sins, confess them modestly before Him, and ask for pardon, He is ready to forgive. What is impossible is to be washed a second time as at the first, but it is never impossible to be renewed by repentance.

God in His patience does not strike at once, but is longsuffering so that He may lead you to repentance. He waits, not because He overlooks sin, but because He desires your return. This sorrow you now feel, if it is a godly sorrow, works repentance unto salvation without regret. It is not like the sorrow of Esau, who wept out of pride and anger and did not truly turn, nor like Judas who despaired. It is like David, who after his great sin washed his bed with tears and confessed, and through that confession became better than before. So you also, by continuing to acknowledge your sin before God, become humble and ready to receive His remission.

Therefore do not stay in despair and do not turn back from this good beginning. Enter fully into the thought of your sins, confess them plainly to God, and bring forth fruits worthy of repentance. That means turning from what led you away, seeking Him daily in prayer, hearing His word, and walking in obedience. As you ask God to forgive you, forgive others also from your heart, for the Lord has joined these together. And let your repentance show itself in deeds of love and mercy, for almsgiving and faithfulness help to cleanse the wounds of sin.

You are right to come only through Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we are saved. It is His cross that makes forgiveness possible, and it is His blood that washes us when we repent and believe.

I pray for you now that God will forgive you according to His abundant mercy, lift the weight of this tough situation, and make things right in the way that is best for your soul. May He give you a firm purpose to stay near Him, strengthen you to bear what you must bear, and lead you to peace with Him. Keep praying, keep turning to Him, and trust that the One who taught you to ask for forgiveness delights to give it when you ask with a true heart.

Your honesty before God is precious and He hears a prayer like this. What you are feeling is exactly what God desires most, which is simply to have fellowship with you again. He has always wanted closeness with you, and that is why He sent Jesus to take away sin, so that nothing would stand between you and Him. Jesus loves to speak those words, your sins are forgiven.

It is true that you do not deserve His mercy, and it is right to come to Him with that humble heart. No one does deserve it. But do not let the enemy lie to you and tell you that you have walked too far away to be renewed or that there is no hope for you now. He even twists Scripture to make you feel that way. The truth about God is that He is gracious and merciful, long suffering and patient, and when you turn to Him there is complete forgiveness and cleansing.

There is a difference between only wanting relief from a tough situation and truly wanting God Himself. Real repentance is turning your heart back to Him, not just seeking the blessing or asking Him to fix the circumstances. When the heart truly turns, He not only forgives, He blots out the past so that as far as He is concerned it no longer remains against you. He looks upon you with tenderness and love. If you have felt His correction, know that it is not a sign that He does not love you, it is because He does love you and wants to bring you back into life with Him. To live is to be one with God through Jesus Christ.

In your own strength the situation you face may feel impossible. With our human limitations we constantly run into walls we cannot move. But the moment God is brought into the matter, the word impossible has to be set aside, for nothing is impossible with Him. He is able to make things right in His perfect way and in His perfect time as you walk with Him.

You can come to Him right now just as you are. Confess your turning away, receive His forgiveness through Jesus Christ who died in your place and rose again, and ask Him to be Lord of your life again. His Spirit will bear witness with your spirit and bring you back into that fellowship where you meet Him.

Pray with me. Father, thank You for Your great love shown at the cross. I confess I have walked away from You and I turn back to You now. Forgive me through the blood of Jesus Christ, cleanse me, and make me Yours again. I give my life to You. Be with me in this difficult situation and do what only You can do. Teach me to walk in Your Spirit and in fellowship with You each day. In Jesus name, amen.
