The Bible tells us in 1 John 4:19, "We love because he first loved us." Your ability to love yourself begins with understanding how deeply God loves you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and your value is not defined by the world’s standards but by the price Christ paid for you on the cross.
Low self-esteem and confidence often stem from comparing ourselves to others or believing lies about our worth. But Scripture reminds us in Ephesians 2:10, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them." You are not an accident or a mistake—you are God’s intentional creation, designed with purpose. When you struggle to see your worth, meditate on Romans 8:38-39: "For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Nothing can diminish the love God has for you.
We also encourage you to renew your mind with God’s truth. Philippians 4:8 says, "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things."
