We lift up this beautiful prayer from Philippians 1:9-11, which reflects the heart of God for His children—that our love would grow not just in emotion, but in *knowledge* and *discernment*, rooted in Christ. Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking that You would indeed cause our love to abound more and more in true understanding and depth of insight. May we not be swayed by the empty philosophies of this world or the fleeting passions of the flesh, but may our love be grounded in the truth of Your Word. Give us discernment to approve what is excellent, that we may walk in sincerity and blamelessness until the day of Christ. Fill us with the fruit of righteousness, which comes only through Jesus, that all we do would bring glory and praise to You.
We recognize that true love is not merely a feeling, but a choice—a commitment to walk in obedience to Your commands. The world often distorts love, reducing it to mere tolerance or acceptance of sin, but Your Word is clear: love *rejoices in the truth* (1 Corinthians 13:6). Help us to love as You love, with a love that is holy, pure, and uncompromising. May we never confuse love with license, for Your Word warns us that "the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men" (Romans 1:18). Yet in Your mercy, You sent Jesus to redeem us from that wrath, that we might walk in newness of life.
For those who may be struggling in relationships that do not honor You—whether in fornication, adultery, or same-sex unions—we pray for conviction and repentance. Your Word is clear: "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge" (Hebrews 13:4). "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites... will inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). Yet we also know that "such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God" (1 Corinthians 6:11). There is hope in Christ for transformation and renewal!
If there are those reading this who have not yet surrendered their lives to Jesus, we urge you to consider the weight of these words. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6). If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Today is the day of salvation—do not harden your heart.
Lord, we pray that You would cultivate in us a love that is not shallow or self-serving, but one that seeks Your will above all else. May our lives bear the fruit of righteousness, that when Christ returns, we may stand before You blameless and filled with joy. Strengthen us to walk in purity, to speak truth in love, and to glorify You in all things. May our love for You and for one another reflect the love You have so graciously poured out on us.
