When a sheep is lost from the flock the shepherd goes searching for it. In that intervening period the sheep might have gone through many agony, fear of its predators, drought and so on. It might be even bleeding.
Luke 15 : 5
And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders
He might have even kept on His chest pampering.
This is the love of our Lord Jesus when His grace brings us to Him from our sinful life.
He gives another parable about the lost son.
In his pathetic state, after spending all the money the second son remembers the love of his father and the comforts provided to him and returning.
Luke 15 : 20
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
What a compassionate God we have forgiving all our sins and accepting us with compassion.
Now, the first son refuses to go into the house.
Luke 15 : 28
"The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. Here also we see the compassionate heart of the father.
Now I raise a doubt here. What do you think had the son gone in or left the house?
Jesus did not give the answer for that.
We read in Luke 1: 52
He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.
Can this be the answer?
