We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your brother who is facing such great difficulty and depression after losing his job. Father God, we know that You see every struggle and every tear, and we ask that You would move mightily in his life during this challenging time. The Word tells us in Psalm 34:18-19, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all." Lord, we pray that Your presence would be so real to him right now—that he would feel Your nearness and experience Your deliverance from this trial.
We also declare over him the promise in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you," says Yahweh, "thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." Father, we ask that You would open new doors of opportunity for him, whether in his current location or elsewhere. Provide him with work that not only meets his financial needs but also brings him dignity and purpose. If there is any fear, anxiety, or hopelessness gripping his heart, we rebuke it in the name of Jesus and command it to leave. Fill him instead with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and with the assurance that You are his Provider (Matthew 6:31-33).
We pray for wisdom for him as he makes decisions about his next steps. Guide his path, Lord, and let him hear Your voice clearly. If there are any areas where he needs to grow in faith or trust in You, soften his heart to receive Your correction and encouragement. Remind him that his worth is not found in his job or his circumstances but in You alone. Help him to cast all his cares upon You, for You care for him (1 Peter 5:7).
Lastly, we ask that You would surround him with a community of believers who can support him, pray for him, and encourage him in this season. Let him not feel alone, but let him know that he is loved by You and by Your people. We trust You, Lord, to turn this situation around for his good and for Your glory. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
