Losing my Job

Your request has been heard and we are praying with you in this season of uncertainty. To face the loss of your work while carrying responsibility for your wife and children is a heavy burden, and it is right to bring it before the Lord.

We pray that God will open a new opportunity for you soon, work that is honest and fitting, by which you may continue to provide for your family in a way that honors Him. We ask Him to give you peace in the waiting, wisdom as you search and apply, favor with those who make decisions, and daily provision for every true need of your household.

Scripture teaches us to see even loss in the light of eternity. Job, when he lost his abundance, did not cling to his possessions as if they were his hope, but said, The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord. His loss did not become a true loss because he kept his faith and gave thanks. In the same way, when material things are taken or threatened, the enemy hopes we will be driven to complaint or despair, but God is able to turn even this trial into gain for your soul if you remain steadfast, thankful, and trusting in Him.

Do not think that God is unaware of your practical needs. He knows you need food, shelter, and work to care for your family, and to make provision for your household within what is necessary and healthy is good and right. Yet we are taught not to seek Him only for bread, as though bread were the greatest gift. Seek Him first for the greater gifts, His mercy, His forgiveness through Jesus Christ, His strength and wisdom, and He will add what is needed for daily life according to His fatherly care.

Therefore keep your heart fixed on Christ, give thanks in all things, guard against anxiety and bitter words, and continue in diligent labor and prayer. Practice trust now, as Job did before his trial, so that when pressure comes you may stand firm. Encourage your wife and children to pray with you, and let them see in you a steady faith that God is still good and still present.

We pray together for you now. Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are our provider and that every good gift comes from Your hand. We lift up this husband and father to You, and his wife and children. You know his need for work and the weight he feels. Provide for this family day by day, guard their hearts from fear, keep them from all despair and unbelief, and lead him to the work You have prepared for him. Give him humility and courage to do what is before him, and let this trial deepen his trust in Your Son Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray, amen.

May the Lord keep you, strengthen you for each step, and supply what you need as you walk faithfully before Him.
