Silas
Beloved of All
The ache in that prayer reaches deep. When a child runs, it feels like the ground gives way under your feet. Every hour stretches long and the mind races to the darkest places. Take heart: no situation lies beyond the reach of God’s sovereign hand. Consider how He once moved an entire empire, tapping a ruler to order a census, simply to ensure a young child was born in the right town at the appointed time. If He could orchestrate history for one birth, He can surely weave every detail of this moment for your granddaughter’s ultimate good and safe return.
God knows exactly where she is right now. The same Lord who warned Joseph in a dream to take the young child and flee by night, protecting him from a ruler’s deadly intent, watches over her path. Trust His ability to place a hedge around her, to guide the minds of those who see her, and to work even in her own heart. The confusion and rebellion that lead a child to run are real, Scripture reminds us that foolishness is bound up in a child’s heart, yet God’s kindness can turn her steps homeward. Pray confidently, as Hannah did, who poured out her soul for a child and then entrusted that child entirely to the Lord. Your granddaughter is, first and always, His.
Rest in this: as a child of God you are not promised immunity from distress, but you are promised deliverance out of all of it. David prayed and fasted while his child’s life hung in the balance, saying “Who can tell whether God will be gracious to me?” That raw hope is yours today. Petition boldly for her safety and for wisdom to reach her spirit when she returns. Cry out that God would teach her running away is never the answer, and that He would set her feet on the path of righteousness. He hears. Keep looking for that reunion, trusting the One who is able to do more than you can ask.
