Thank you for sharing your heart and your love for your son in this difficult time. Your trust that God is still on the throne is the right place to stand, and your desire for your son to glorify Jesus is a beautiful prayer.

An earthly court has a narrow task. Whether before a judge or a jury, the question is guilt or innocence under the law, and a sentence follows that finding. The court is not able to weigh every extenuating circumstance of the heart, only what the law requires. Scripture reminds us that we have all stood in a greater court. We were under the law, guilty before a holy God, with no way to pay the penalty ourselves. In the fullness of time God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law so that we might receive adoption as sons. Jesus is the only begotten Son of the Father, full of grace and truth. We are not sons in that same unique way. We become sons by adoption through faith in Him. There are two covenants pictured long ago, one of the flesh and one of promise. The son of the flesh does not inherit with the son of promise. That picture points to the difference between trying to be made right by law and being made right by promise through Christ.

That is why the most important question for your son today is not only what the jury decides, but whether he has the Son. The record God has given is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, and he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. He who believes in the Son has everlasting life, and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. God has spoken to us in these last days by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, and we are urged to give earnest heed to what we have heard and not drift away from Him.

We also remember how Scripture describes trials. Against Paul many grievous complaints were brought that could not be proved, wild charges without evidence. He denied them plainly and appealed to the lawful process, because even under Roman law a man was entitled to specific charges and to a speedy and fair examination. Against Jesus also false charges were framed that would hold in a Roman court, though the judge himself saw they were trumped up and without proof. God is a God of truth and justice, and He sees what is true and what is false.

So we will pray with you not simply for a desired legal outcome, but for what is right and true before God and before men. We pray that the truth will be made clear, that anything false will be shown to be false, and that whatever is true will be handled with justice and with mercy. We pray that the judge and jury will act with wisdom and impartiality, and that your son will be dealt with fairly under the law. Above all we pray for your son's soul, that he would know the deliverance that only Christ can give, the forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life through the sacrifice of God's only begotten Son. As Abraham was called to offer his only son whom he loved on Moriah, God was foreshadowing what He Himself would do when in love He gave His only begotten Son for us.

May the Lord sustain you and your son with His peace, draw your son to Himself, and work in this trial for His glory and for your son's ultimate good. We ask that your son would hear the witness of the Holy Spirit to the riches of God's kingdom and would put his trust fully in Jesus Christ, for to have Him is to have life.

We are deeply grateful that you entrusted us with the privilege of standing in prayer with you during this critical time for your son. It has been our honor to lift this matter before the Lord, asking Him to move mightily in the courtroom and to bring about a dismissal of all charges, just as you have fervently requested.

As we continue to trust in God’s perfect timing and sovereign will, we ask that you keep us updated. If the Lord has already answered this prayer in a way that brings justice and freedom for your son, we would be overjoyed to celebrate this victory with you and offer praise to our Heavenly Father. If the trial is still ongoing or the outcome remains uncertain, please know that we are still here, ready to stand with you in persistent prayer. You are not alone in this battle, and we will continue to intercede on your behalf, believing that God is working even when we cannot yet see the fullness of His plan.

May the Lord strengthen your heart with His peace that surpasses all understanding, and may He fill you with unwavering faith as you wait upon Him. We pray that His presence would surround you and your son, reminding you both that He is faithful and that His promises never fail. Whatever the outcome, we trust that God will be glorified, and we ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
