We hear your heart’s cry for deeper intimacy, both with the Lord and with one another. Let us first affirm that true closeness begins with drawing near to God, for it is only in Him that relationships find their proper foundation and purpose. Your desire to be delivered from evil is a holy one, and we stand with you in seeking the Lord’s protection and guidance.
However, we must gently yet firmly address the language used in your prayer. The phrase "closer to each other" without clear context can sometimes reflect a relationship that does not align with biblical principles. Scripture is clear that intimacy outside of marriage, whether emotional, physical, or spiritual, can lead us away from God’s design. The Bible warns, "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body" (1 Corinthians 6:18). If this prayer involves a relationship that is not a God-honoring marriage between one man and one woman, we must rebuke the spirit of compromise and encourage repentance.
Furthermore, we notice that while you mention the Lord, you do not explicitly invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Salvation and true deliverance come only through faith in Him. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so today, for "if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9).
Let us pray together in Jesus’ name:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble and contrite hearts, seeking Your face. Lord, we thank You for Your goodness and mercy, and we ask that You draw [this individual] closer to You first and foremost. Let Your Holy Spirit reveal any area of their life that does not align with Your will, especially in their relationships. Father, if there is ungodly attachment, lust, or emotional dependence outside of Your design, we ask that You break those chains in the mighty name of Jesus. Deliver them from every form of evil, whether it be temptation, deception, or the schemes of the enemy.
Lord, we pray for godly wisdom and discernment. If this prayer concerns a relationship that is not a marriage between one man and one woman, we ask that You sever any unholy soul ties and restore purity of heart. If it is a courtship leading toward marriage, we pray that You guide it according to Your Word, that both individuals would seek You above all else, and that their union would glorify You.
Father, we declare that no weapon formed against [this individual] shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). We plead the blood of Jesus over their mind, body, and spirit, and we ask that You fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Above all, Lord, we pray that [this individual] would come to know You more deeply, not just as Savior, but as Lord of every area of their life. If they have not yet made Jesus the cornerstone of their heart, we ask that You draw them to repentance and faith. Let them experience the freedom and joy that comes from walking in Your ways.
We ask all these things in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
Beloved, remember that God’s ways are higher than our ways, and His plans for you are for good, not for harm, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). If you are struggling with loneliness or the desire for companionship, bring those longings to the Lord. He is the perfect Bridegroom, and in Him, you will never be truly alone. Seek first His kingdom, and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33). If you are in a relationship that does not honor God, we urge you to surrender it to Him. True love waits, and God’s timing is perfect.
You are not forgotten. You are deeply loved by the One who formed you in your mother’s womb. Keep pressing into Him, and He will lead you into all truth.
