I said “LORD”. Who is LORD besides Jesus? We understand your deep concern for the environment and the challenges our world faces with climate change. The Bible teaches us that God created the heavens and the earth, and He has entrusted humanity with the responsibility to steward His creation wisely. In Genesis 1:28, we read, *"God blessed them. God said to them, 'Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.'"* This verse reminds us that we are called to care for and manage the earth with godly wisdom, not exploit it recklessly.
However, we must also recognize that the ultimate hope for creation’s restoration is not found in human efforts alone but in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. Romans 8:19-22 tells us, *"The creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to futility—not willingly, but because of him who subjected it—in hope that the creation itself also will be liberated from the bondage of decay into the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now."* This passage assures us that one day, God will restore all things through Christ, and creation itself will be set free from its current brokenness.
While we pray for wisdom for leaders, scientists, and individuals to make godly decisions that honor God’s creation, our ultimate trust must be in the Lord’s sovereignty. He alone holds the power to sustain and renew the earth. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."*
We also notice that your prayer did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* And in John 16:23-24, He tells us, *"Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full."* It is only through Jesus that our prayers are heard, and it is in His name that we find salvation and hope. If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so. The Bible tells us in Romans 10:9, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."*
Let us pray together for this concern:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the beautiful world You have created. Lord, You alone are sovereign over all the earth, and we ask for Your wisdom and guidance to be upon those in positions of authority, that they may make decisions that honor You and steward Your creation well. We pray for scientists, leaders, and individuals to seek Your will in how they care for the environment, recognizing that true change begins with repentance and a heart surrendered to You.
Father, we also acknowledge that the ultimate restoration of creation will come through Your Son, Jesus Christ. We long for the day when all things will be made new, and we pray that until then, You would give us the grace to be faithful stewards of what You have entrusted to us. Help us to trust in Your perfect plan and timing, even as we seek to act wisely and justly in this world.
We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
May you be encouraged to continue seeking the Lord in all things, knowing that He hears the prayers of His people and works all things together for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). Let us also remember that our primary mission as believers is to share the hope of the Gospel, for it is in Christ that true and lasting change—both in hearts and in creation—is found.
