Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for pouring out your heart so openly before the Lord. Your prayer reflects deep love for your family, a hunger for God's protection and presence, and an honest awareness of pain, attacks, and long waiting. God hears that kind of prayer.
You asked for a wall of protection around you and your loved ones, for warrior angels to surround you, and for the promises of Psalm 91, Psalm 34:7, Zechariah 2:5, Isaiah 54:17 and other scriptures to be real over your household. Scripture does teach that the Lord Himself is our shield and our wall, that He encamps around those who fear Him, and that no weapon formed against His people will finally prevail. It is right to ask Him to keep you and your family under the shadow of His wings, to guard your minds, your bodies, your sleep, your home and your coming and going. Keep asking Him daily to be your refuge and to let His presence be the fire that guards you.
You also pleaded for salvation, deliverance, healing and restoration for your whole family. The name Jesus itself means the Lord is salvation. There is no other provision God has made for sin. Salvation comes only through Jesus Christ, when we confess with our mouth that He is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead. That confession now brings eternal life. Scripture warns that a day will come when every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord, but then it will not be unto salvation, it will be an acknowledgment of truth too late. That is why the Bible says now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation. Do not put off calling on Him, and do not stop praying for your loved ones to call on Him today. His arm is not too short to save. He is able to save completely those who come to God through Christ.
Understand too that salvation is not something we earn. It is outside our own ability. God placed it on the basis of His grace and His work through Jesus, and even the faith to believe is His gift. The grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all, and it is received as a gift of eternal life. For those who have received it, Scripture then says to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. That does not mean to work for your salvation, as if you could add to what Christ has done. It means to live out, with reverence and dependence, what God has already worked within you, letting His life be seen in obedience, in love, and in trust.
You asked for healing, quoting Isaiah 53:5 and Jeremiah 30:17, and for God to restore what seems hopelessly broken according to Joel 2:25, to break curses through Galatians 3:13, to give new hearts according to Ezekiel 36, to pour love into your hearts according to Romans 5:5, and to restore your souls according to Psalm 23. These are right prayers. The Lord is the one who binds up the brokenhearted and heals wounds. Sometimes that healing is immediate, sometimes it is gradual. In the Gospels there is even a healing that came in stages, which reminds us that God heals in different ways and in His own timing. At times, as with Paul's thorn in the flesh, God's answer is not removal but sustaining grace. In every case the greatest miracle remains the forgiveness of sins. Hold fast to that, and keep bringing every physical, emotional and spiritual wound to Him, trusting that every true healing, whether sudden or slow, whether of body, mind or heart, comes from His hand.
You spoke honestly about leaning on your own understanding, about needing supernatural trust and faith, and about not wanting to lose sight of all God has already done while you wait for complete deliverance. That is exactly what God invites. Trust Him with all your heart rather than your own insight, and He will direct your paths. Remember with thanksgiving what He has already answered. Praise keeps the heart from growing weary in waiting.
You also mentioned painful family dynamics, rejection, trauma, abandonment, and difficult relationships that have been disastrous and dysfunctional. The Lord knows that sting. He Himself experienced rejection in His own family and among His own people. Scripture teaches that when we belong to Christ we are brought into a new family, the family of God, where the bond in Christ can be even deeper than blood ties, especially when loved ones do not yet know Him. That does not remove the pain of division, but it means you are not alone. Keep praying for reconciliation and unity where it is possible in truth and love, and keep praying for deliverance where relationships are pulling loved ones away from God's design. God has established marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and He calls His people to purity, with sexual intimacy reserved for within that covenant. We cannot ask Him to bless what is outside His will. Instead we ask Him to convict, to cleanse, to heal wounds that drive unhealthy attachments, to give wisdom and self control, to bring godly influences, and to either redeem relationships by bringing them into alignment with His word or to graciously end what is harmful. Pray for your loved ones to find their confidence and identity in Christ first, to receive favor for the right reasons at school and work, and to be surrounded by people who lead them toward wholeness.
You confessed speaking badly about others behind their backs, explosive anger in your heart, venting, and fear. Bring those things plainly to the cross. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us. Ask Him to replace fear with love and a sound mind, to guard your tongue, to help you speak truth in love, and to confront what is not of Him in a way that honors Him. He can turn conviction into growth as you walk humbly before Him.
You asked for help with school, homework, understanding, work responsibilities, sleep, daily needs, and ministry opportunities including prayer gatherings, devotions, worship, sermons and other service. God cares about each of these details. Ask Him to anoint your times of prayer, to work in hearts to hunger for prayer, to give you wisdom for what to say and do, to guide your preparation, and to use it for His glory and for the salvation of others. Pray that He would be the one who empowers and leads, and that you would see fruit that remains.
May the Lord continue to be your salvation and your walls, your healer and your restorer. May He pour His love into your hearts, give you new hearts that bear the fruit of the Spirit, restore your souls, and in His time restore the years that have felt lost. May He keep you from offense, keep you trusting Him day by day, and keep you praising Him for what He has done and for what He will yet do.
We join you in praying: Lord Jesus, be our salvation. Cover this family with Your blood and Your presence. Save those who do not yet know You, deliver those who are bound, heal the brokenhearted, break every curse through Your cross and turn it to blessing, restore what is broken, pour Your love and Your Spirit into each heart, give new minds and new hearts, guard sleep and home and work and school, forgive sin and cleanse from anger and fear, guide every relationship into Your holy will, and be glorified in every part of these lives. We ask this in Your holy name, amen.
