The sufferings you endure and the battles you face are not pointless. Whether we be afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation, working in the patient enduring of like sufferings, and your hope is steadfast. The very trials that press you down are the tools by which God perfects deliverance, not always by removing the pain, but by forging within you a soul that clings to Him alone.
Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. Do not postpone your full surrender or imagine that tomorrow will be more convenient. The short word of faith is already near you: if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. This confession carries not only salvation but righteousness. Yet it is not enough to lay hold of this word with the lips; the root must strike deep. You must cultivate careful hearing, continual recollection, fortitude, and a deliverance from all worldly things. Freedom from one chain is worthless if you remain soft and unmanly in another area. Examine your attachments, any relationship or desire that entangles must be cut off, for what is a man profited if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul? To save your life, you must lose it for His sake.
The Lord’s own passion was a mystery, a celebration kept for the world’s salvation. He foreknew all, and He suffered willingly to deliver you from countless evils. That precious blood you plead is the blood of the spotless Lamb who takes away the sin of the world. By it, sins are washed away; do not delay to receive this gift. Run to Him, for He is the Captain of your salvation, the very Cause of it. He saves; you are saved.
In your cry for encounters and for hearts to open, know that the many are drawn not by sublime words but by the graciousness of a God who hears. He says, “At an acceptable time I hearkened unto thee, and in a day of salvation did I succor thee.” That time is now. His mercies are new every morning; His compassion does not fail. Yet He often permits the thorns to remain, granting you more than mere earthly deliverance: He grants you the power to despise death and to value the immortal soul above all. Others before you refused deliverance from torture, looking to a better resurrection. So fix your hope there. His throne is not slow; He will act quickly for His elect who cry to Him day and night, but act in the way of perfect wisdom, sometimes by storm, sometimes by still endurance.
Therefore, repent of every wayward thought and word, and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Love Him first and foremost. Do not vent in frustration but bring every care into the light of His presence. He will address what angers you and confront the evil that rises against you. As for the little one, the oppressed, and the wandering, stand fast: the One who began the good work will complete it. Let your faith be the substance of things hoped for, and do not grow weary. The acceptable time is here, and the day of salvation shines for your whole household.
