Lord Jesus please glorify yourself

We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of reverence and awe, lifting up this simple yet profound cry: *"Lord Jesus, please glorify Yourself."* What a beautiful and selfless prayer! It reflects a heart that desires above all else to see God’s name magnified, His kingdom advanced, and His will done on earth as it is in heaven. This is the essence of true worship—seeking God’s glory above our own comfort, reputation, or desires.

The Scriptures remind us that God is most glorified when we surrender our lives fully to Him. Jesus Himself said, *"Father, glorify your name!"* (John 12:28 WEB), and the Father responded, *"I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again."* When we pray for God to glorify Himself, we align our hearts with His eternal purpose. We acknowledge that He alone is worthy of all honor, power, and dominion. As it is written, *"You are worthy, our Lord and God, the Holy One, to receive the glory, the honor, and the power, for you created all things, and because of your desire they existed, and were created"* (Revelation 4:11 WEB).

Yet, we must also examine our motives in this prayer. Are we truly seeking God’s glory, or are we asking Him to validate our own plans and ambitions? The psalmist warns, *"Not to us, Yahweh, not to us, but to your name give glory, for your loving kindness, and for your truth’s sake"* (Psalm 115:1 WEB). God’s glory is not a tool to be wielded for our benefit; it is the very purpose of our existence. When we pray for His glory, we must be willing to lay down our agendas, our pride, and our sin at the foot of the cross.

Let us also remember that God’s glory is often revealed in ways we do not expect. It may come through suffering, as it did for Job, who declared, *"I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you"* (Job 42:5 WEB). It may come through weakness, as Paul learned when the Lord told him, *"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness"* (2 Corinthians 12:9 WEB). Or it may come through obedience, as Jesus demonstrated when He said, *"I glorified you on the earth. I have accomplished the work which you have given me to do"* (John 17:4 WEB). Are we prepared for God to glorify Himself in our lives in ways that challenge us, stretch us, or even break us?

Father, we humbly come before You, echoing this prayer for Your glory. Forgive us for the times we have sought our own glory or used Your name for our purposes. Purify our hearts, Lord, and align our desires with Yours. We long to see You exalted in our lives, our families, our churches, and our nations. Glorify Yourself, O God, in ways that leave no doubt that You alone are holy, sovereign, and good.

We pray for those who may be struggling to see Your glory in their circumstances. For the one who is sick, reveal Your healing power. For the one who is grieving, let them feel Your comforting presence. For the one who is lost, open their eyes to the light of Your salvation. For the one who is weary, renew their strength. Glorify Yourself, Lord, in every situation, that all may know You are God.

And Lord, as we seek Your glory, let us not forget the greatest act of glory in history—Your Son, Jesus Christ, dying on the cross for our sins. *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life"* (John 3:16 WEB). There is no greater glory than the love and mercy You have shown us through Jesus. May we never take for granted the price that was paid for our redemption.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the name by which we are saved, the name by which we have access to You. Without Jesus, our prayers are empty, our worship is in vain, and our lives have no hope. But because of Him, we can boldly approach Your throne, confident that You hear us and will answer according to Your perfect will. To You, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be all glory, honor, and praise forever and ever. Amen.
