Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer for protection has been heard and I join with you in bringing it before the Lord.
The Scripture teaches that the beginning of wisdom and knowledge is the reverent fear of the Lord. That fear is not a phobia or a shaking terror, but a deep awe at who God is, His greatness and power and holiness. To fear Him is to love what He loves and to hate what He hates, to turn away from evil and to desire to walk in His ways. That reverence is both the starting place and the sum of true understanding, while to despise His instruction is the way of folly.
Fear of circumstances and faith in God cannot rule the heart at the same time. When fear is allowed to take over, faith is pushed aside, and fear will even magnify a problem beyond what it is. The cure for fear is to remember the Lord and to live conscious of His presence with you. As David said, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for You are with me. When you keep your confidence in the Lord, you do not have to be afraid of sudden fear or of the desolation that comes upon the wicked, for the Lord Himself will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being taken. We can do what is wise and prudent without being driven by fear of the enemy.
God is your refuge and your fortress, and His truth is your shield. He is the Creator of all things visible and invisible, and the angels are His created servants. There are different orders among them, and the cherubim are among the highest, who surround His throne crying holy, holy, holy and who were placed to guard the way after the fall. The Bible assures us that the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and that He will give His angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways. His protection is not found by hiding in fear, but by abiding in Christ who Himself is our defense.
So I pray with you now. Father in Jesus name, thank You that You are present and that You see this home and this heart that looks to You. I ask that You would be a refuge and fortress over this house, that You would encamp Your angels around it and keep it from evil. Cover this home with Your truth as a shield and let Your peace drive out all fear. Teach this dear one to walk in the reverent fear of You, to hate evil and to love righteousness, and to rest in simple faith and trust in You. Let there be no reaction out of fear, but a quiet confidence that You are with us and You are able to deliver from every snare. Keep this home in Your care and let Your presence be known there. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Rest in Him. As you keep your heart fixed on the Lord and His goodness, fear will lose its hold and faith will stand strong.
