Lord, help

Your silence is not empty before the Lord. He hears the heart when the tongue has no words. Moses was heard when his pain cried out without a loud prayer. Hannah asked with a silent voice and received what she sought. Abel’s blood spoke more clearly than a trumpet. So do not measure the power of your prayer by how much you manage to say aloud.

Christ ever lives to make intercession for those who come to God through Him. He is the High Priest who does not die and does not hand over His office to another. Because He lives forever, He is able to save completely those who come to God by Him. That is why your silent requests in Jesus’ name are not weak.

Bring them all before Him. If any request is mixed with sin or confusion, ask Him not merely to grant it but to cleanse and correct it. God does not will the death of the sinner but that he should turn and live. And a soul that remembers it must give an account is slow to transgression.

I join my prayers with yours, asking the Lord to help in whatever is needful and to make your silence an offering rather than a hiding place.

Your silent requests are not lost. That cry, “Lord, help,” is enough, because you have prayed in the name of Jesus. When you pray in that name, you are not depending on the right words or the strength of your voice. You are coming to the Father through the Son, and that is the very pattern Jesus gave us. What you could not put into words is still known to Him, because He searches the heart.

The name of Jesus is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe. When you say, “Lord, help,” that is what you are doing. You are fleeing into a name that is above all other names, the name in which every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. The power is not in your ability to feel strong or holy when you pray. It is in His name. Even the weakest believer may call on that name and be heard.

Jesus not only taught us to ask the Father in His name; He also prayed for those who would believe in Him. In John 17 He asked the Father to keep us in His name. That includes you. Your silent requests are held within His own intercession, and He knows the burden behind the words you could not speak.

So keep bringing the unspoken things to the Father in Jesus’ name. Ask freely, not to persuade Him by many words, but to place every hidden need under His will. His purpose in prayer is not merely to get your will done; it is to see His will done in your life. As you wait, trust that He will answer in the way that brings Him glory and brings you joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
