We hear your cry for self control and spiritual strength and we stand with you together before the Lord God Almighty in Heaven in Jesus name. We understand the battles and pressure and stress from work and we know how heavy it feels when it seems people are coming against you. We thank you for placing this situation in His hands and for seeking His help for your schedule and your hours.

We rejoice that you are asking for self control and spiritual strength, for this is the heart of God for you. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self control, Galatians 5:22-23, and we are called to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might, Ephesians 6:10. God invites us to cast all our anxiety on him because he cares for us, 1 Peter 5:7, and to in nothing be anxious but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let our requests be made known to God and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places, Ephesians 6:12, so we put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand.

We love you enough to speak truth to you about the way you prayed against the person in your workplace. We understand the pain and frustration that makes you want to ask God to scatter, confuse, expose and destroy physical and spiritual enemies and to remove this woman from her position, but this is not how God calls us to pray. Vengeance belongs to the Lord and He will repay, Romans 12:19. Jesus calls us to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, do good to those who hate us, and pray for those who mistreat us and persecute us, Matthew 5:44 and Luke 6:27-28. Promotion and justice do not come from the east nor from the west nor from the south but God is the judge, He puts down one and lifts up another, Psalm 75:6-7. When we ask God to destroy a person or to remove them for our own relief we step into His place as judge. Instead we are to pray for God’s will to be done, for truth to be exposed in His way and timing, for justice with mercy, and even for the heart of the one who oppresses us to be changed. We rebuke the spirit of retaliation and we ask God to replace it with His love and trust.

We encourage you to continue to seek self control when provoked, to answer softly, to work heartily as for the Lord and not for men, Colossians 3:23, and to trust Him with your schedule and hours. He sees what you endure and He is able to fix what is broken, to open doors no one can shut and to give you favor and rest even in a difficult workplace.

We pray together with you now. Father in Heaven we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord. We thank You that our brother can come boldly to You through Jesus. We ask You to fill him with Your Holy Spirit and to grow in him self control and spiritual strength for every battle and pressure and stress at work. Guard his heart and mind with Your peace. Give him wisdom to stand firm against spiritual attack and to walk in integrity and grace before his coworkers. Lord You see the conflict and the treatment he has faced, You see his schedule and his hours, and we place them fully in Your hands. Do what is right and just in Your perfect timing. Expose what needs to be exposed according to Your will, bring conviction where it is needed, and protect him from harm. We pray not for destruction of any person but for Your mercy and transformation, even for the woman who has caused him pain, that You would work in her heart and lead her to repentance and that Your will would be done in that workplace. Remove bitterness from his heart and help him to forgive and to bless those who come against him. Provide for his needs, order his schedule, and let his life be a testimony of Your strength. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ who is our only access to You and our only salvation, Acts 4:12. Amen.

We hear how heavy work has felt lately and how much pressure you are carrying with your schedule and hours. Wanting self control and spiritual strength in the middle of that is a good and honest prayer, and we are joining you in it.

When stress stays high for a long time without recovery, it wears down both body and spirit. It helps to notice what is most draining right now and what is in your hands to address. One practical step that may help this week is to triage what you named, pick the one or two most pressing schedule issues, write them down clearly and calmly, and bring them to the right person at work if you are able to. It can also help to have one trusted person outside of work to talk and pray with regularly, and to build in brief times to rest and give the day's burdens to God rather than carrying them through the night.

We are not asking God to harm anyone on your behalf, but we are praying for wisdom for you, for peace in your workplace, and for God to work justly in what you cannot control. He sees you in this and He can steady you as you walk through it.

Father, we lift our brother to You and ask for strength and self control today, for wisdom for his schedule and hours, and for Your protection and guidance at work. Guard his heart from bitterness, give him rest and clarity, and lead his steps in Your will. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your cry for self control and spiritual strength under pressure and stress at work is a right and needful desire, and it is good that you bring it to the Lord who searches the heart and tries the reins of the children of men.

You ask for grace to stand in the battle, and for wisdom concerning your schedule and hours. This is a prayer God delights to hear, for without Christ we can do nothing. Not some great things only, but nothing at all without Him. Every grain of self strength we gain is a grain of weakness, and every particle of self reliance is but poison in the veins. The help you need will not come from your own resolve, but from Him who gives power to the faint. Therefore set Caution and Self examination at the helm, and cry with the Psalmist, Search me, and know my heart. Be accustomed to examine your actions and your motives, to pass your words and your thoughts in review before Him.

In that spirit, I must speak tenderly to another part of your prayer. The wish to scatter and destroy those you feel to be enemies, and to ask that another be removed from her position, is not the way of Christ. Our Lord endured great contradiction of sinners against Himself with singular courage and holy equanimity, and He has set us an example that we should consider Him and walk in His steps. He teaches us to love our enemies, to bless them that curse us, and to leave vengeance in the hands of the righteous Judge. The rough winds of self examination will help you here, to see whether there be any root of bitterness or self conceit in the heart, and to be humbled before God rather than exalted against others. Every Christian in proportion as he lives near to God will feel this self abasement and lowliness of heart, and will distrust himself and trust the Saviour more fully.

The pressure and stress you feel are real, and the body and mind when kept in such tension may suddenly give way even with the best intentions. There is a halo round about our griefs since Jesus Christ endured them first, and His dignity has invested brave endurance with honor and glory. Look to Him, not to the destruction of others, for your deliverance.

Let us pray together according to the mind of Christ.

O Lord God Almighty, give to this thy servant true self control and spiritual strength, not from self but from thy Spirit. Empty this heart of self reliance and self confidence, and fill it with humble dependence upon Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation. Grant wisdom and grace concerning work, schedule and hours, that all things may be ordered with honesty and faithfulness, and that rest and strength may be renewed. Teach this soul to endure contradiction as Christ endured it, with patience and holy calm, and to commit all wrongs and all enemies to thy just and merciful hands. Search the heart, cleanse it from all that is not like Christ, and make it to love those who oppose, to pray for their good, and to seek thy will above all personal vindication. Keep this vineyard of the heart with watchful care, and let all be done to thy glory. In the name of Jesus Christ our only hope, Amen.
