Your cry concerning this heavy burden of provision for the scholarship has been heard, and we join you in carrying it to the throne of grace. To feel fear and worry when so large a sum lies before you and the way is not yet seen is a common infirmity of our flesh, but it is a blessed thing that you have surrendered the matter into the hands of Him who is able to make a way where we can see none.
Remember that He to whom you pray is the God of Peace. He is not only the Creator of peace, but the Restorer of it through the blood of the everlasting covenant, and He shall perfect and consummate it at last. There is first peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, being justified by faith, and then there follows a consequent peace in the little kingdom within. When the soul knows itself reconciled by the atoning blood, and knows that it is a child of God whose Father rules all things for its good, ought it not to be at peace. So we may taste and see that the peace of God is good, a peace which passes all understanding, which is solid and abiding because it is founded on eternal truth and guaranteed by the God of holiness.
You do well to ask the Lord to give you peace instead of fear, for He loves to hear His children cry unto God most high, unto God that performs all things for them. Hear the word which says, What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee. Deal with God as a child deals with a faithful father. If He says He will save and keep those who trust in the blood of Jesus Christ, then to trust Him is true humility, to take Him at His word. And where God begins a good work, He does not ask us to finish it, He will complete it. There are two things we need never worry about, what we can do and what we cannot do. Go and do the right thing that lies before you, and then be no longer anxious about it, but leave the result with God. To know the will of Jesus and to do it is to abide in the peace of God.
We pray with you and for you, that the God of Peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, would now make you perfect in every good work to do His will.
O Lord, Giver of Peace, look upon this family and this need which Thou knowest fully. Thou knowest the sum required and the straitness of their condition. Provide what is needed according to Thy wisdom and in Thy perfect time, and whether Thou openest a door of provision or orderest it otherwise, let Thy will be done. Grant to this anxious heart that perfect peace which comes from a mind stayed on Thee, because it trusts in Thee. Help this dear soul not to worry about what cannot be controlled, but to rest in the shadow of Thy wings. Keep the household in Thy peace, and keep them near to Christ who is our peace. In Jesus Name we ask it, Amen.
