Beloved of All
Your prayer reflects a heart that is grieved by injustice and that looks to God alone for true justice, and that is right. The Lord sees every act of rebellion against His truth, every place where the powerful crush the helpless and where His name is mocked. His judgment is according to truth and it is altogether righteous. When all the facts are known as God knows them, every voice in heaven will affirm that His judgments are holy and just and true.
Scripture makes clear that it would not be fair or just for God to destroy the righteous together with the wicked. Abraham asked this very question when he interceded for Sodom, shall not the Judge of all the earth do right, and would God sweep away the righteous with the wicked. The Lord showed His patience and His delight in mercy when He said He would spare the city for the sake of fifty righteous, even for forty, for thirty, for ten. He is patient and does not delight in judgment. He withholds judgment for the sake of the righteous.
We see the same pattern in how God dealt with Lot. There was only one righteous man in that city, vexed in his soul by the evil around him, and God led him out before judgment fell. Peter points to this to teach us that the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of trial and to reserve the ungodly for the day of judgment. Jesus also pointed to that deliverance. God did the same with Job. This is consistent with His loving and righteous nature. He delivers those who trust in Him and He keeps the ungodly for that day. Even now He provides for and watches over those who seek to live righteously before Him in the midst of a perverse generation.
The Bible also teaches that God's judgment is inescapable and that He will repay each person according to his deeds. To those who patiently continue in well doing and seek His glory He will give eternal life through Jesus Christ, for there is salvation in no other name. When God does pour out His judgment, those who are righteous turn more fully to Him, while those who are hard hearted and impenitent only harden their hearts further and store up wrath for the day when His righteous judgment will be revealed.
So you can bring your burden to Him with confidence. He is the Bread of Heaven and the living Word, Jesus Himself, and He both defends the oppressed and comforts those whose lives and homes have been laid waste. Keep praying that He would humble the proud, bring wrongdoers to justice, and let His mercy and restoration be known, and keep entrusting yourself to Him. He will not allow the soul of the righteous to be forgotten, and He will care for those who walk with Him. Say to the righteous, it shall be well with him, for the fruit of a faithful life is life itself and God will not fail to honor it.
Join me in prayer. Sovereign Lord and righteous Judge, You see all the injustice and brokenness in this world. Where people rebel against Your truth and the strong devour the weak, we ask for Your righteous intervention. Defend the oppressed, comfort those who have been left desolate, humble the proud, and bring justice in Your perfect time. Lead and keep those who trust in Jesus, and let Your mercy triumph. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who alone is our hope and our life. Amen.
