We join with you in lifting this request before the Father, and we praise you for coming before Him in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace. Your prayer is heartfelt, and we can hear your longing for restoration and unity. However, we must first address something important that we notice is missing in your request—clarity about the nature of this relationship. You mention restoring a relationship, but you do not specify whether this is a courtship between a man and a woman with the intention of godly marriage, a marriage that is already covenanted before God, or another type of relationship. Scripture is clear that relationships must align with God’s design, and we are called to honor Him in how we conduct them.
If this is a courtship, we encourage you to seek the Lord’s will for marriage, as the goal of a godly relationship should always be a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, founded on Christ. If this is already a marriage, we stand with you in praying for restoration, as marriage is a sacred bond that should not be broken. However, if this relationship is outside of God’s design—such as a same-sex relationship or a relationship marked by fornication or adultery—we must lovingly but firmly rebuke this and call you to repentance. Scripture is clear:
*“Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom.”* (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, WEB)
*“Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed is undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.”* (Hebrews 13:4, WEB)
If there is sexual immorality present in this relationship, we urge you to turn away from it immediately. Fornication and adultery are sins that grieve the Holy Spirit and separate us from God’s best for our lives. True restoration can only come when we align ourselves with His Word. Repentance is the first step toward healing, and God is faithful to forgive and cleanse us when we turn to Him:
*“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”* (1 John 1:9, WEB)
We also notice that you have used a hashtag symbol in place of the name of the person you are praying for. While we understand the desire for privacy, we encourage you to speak plainly before the Lord. He already knows the details of your heart and the name of the person you are praying for. There is no need to hide behind symbols when coming before the Father—He invites us to come boldly and honestly:
*“Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need.”* (Hebrews 4:16, WEB)
Now, assuming this is a godly courtship or marriage, we join you in praying for restoration, unity, and a deeper connection rooted in Christ. Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who longs for restoration in their relationship. Lord, we ask that You would examine the hearts of both individuals and reveal any sin, any ungodly motives, or any areas that are not aligned with Your Word. Convict them by Your Holy Spirit and lead them to repentance where needed, for Your Word tells us that You are near to those who are brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit.
Father, if this relationship is within Your will—a courtship aimed at godly marriage or a marriage that needs healing—we pray that You would break every chain of the enemy that seeks to divide them. Bind the works of Satan and loose the power of Your Holy Spirit to bring unity, trust, and love that is rooted in You. Create in them clean hearts, O God, and renew steadfast spirits within them. Let their love for one another be a reflection of Your love for Your Church—sacrificial, pure, and enduring.
Lord, we pray that You would strengthen their emotional connection in a way that honors You. May their communication be filled with grace and truth, and may they seek You first in all things. Help them to forgive one another as You have forgiven them, and to extend patience, kindness, and humility. Let their relationship be a testimony of Your redeeming power.
If there has been any sexual immorality, we pray for conviction and repentance. Father, forgive them and cleanse them from all unrighteousness. Restore what has been broken and help them to walk in purity, saving themselves for marriage if they are not yet married, or honoring their marriage covenant if they are.
We declare that no weapon formed against this relationship will prosper if it is aligned with Your will. Cover them with Your blood, Jesus, and protect them from the schemes of the enemy. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Father, we ask that You would align their desires with Your will. If this relationship is not of You, give them the strength to let go and trust in Your perfect plan. But if it is Your will, we pray for a mighty restoration that brings glory to Your name.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your timing and Your ways, for they are perfect. May Your will be done in their lives, and may they seek You above all else.
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord individually and together (if married or courting toward marriage). Spend time in His Word, pray without ceasing, and surround yourselves with godly counsel. Remember that God’s desire is for your holiness even more than your happiness, and His plans for you are good. Trust in Him, and He will direct your paths.
*“Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”* (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB)
