We have read your request and we hear the deep pain in your words as you share that you feel so alone, lonely and depressed and struggling with addiction. We want you to know that you are not unseen and you are not forgotten, and we are joining together to lift you up before our heavenly Father.
The Lord understands loneliness and brokenness in a very personal way. His Word tells us Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit in Psalm 34:18, and He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds in Psalm 147:3. Jesus Himself invites us, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest in Matthew 11:28. We also cling to His promise that He will never leave us nor forsake us in Hebrews 13:5, and even when we feel isolated, He is present and His people, the body of Christ, are meant to bear one another's burdens. We encourage you not to walk through this alone but to reach out to a Bible believing church, a pastor, and trusted Christian believers who can walk with you, pray with you, and hold you accountable in love.
We also want to speak honestly and lovingly about addiction. Addiction often grows from seeking comfort, escape, or fulfillment apart from God, and Scripture calls us to honor God with our bodies and to flee from whatever masters us. We are told that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and therefore we are to glorify God in our body and spirit which are His in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. God's Word also gives hope for temptation and bondage, saying no temptation has taken you except what is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it in 1 Corinthians 10:13. This means there is a way out through Christ, but it requires turning from the sin, confessing it to God, and daily depending on His strength rather than our own. His grace is sufficient, for His power is made perfect in weakness in 2 Corinthians 12:9. We urge you to repent and turn from anything that has taken God's place, to remove access and triggers, to seek godly accountability daily, and to pursue help through pastoral counsel and, if needed, biblical counseling or support for addiction so that you are not fighting in isolation.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share why His name matters so much. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God and find true forgiveness, healing, and freedom. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. Without Christ we remain separated from God, but when we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved in Romans 10:9. He died for our sins and rose again so that we could be forgiven, made new, and have the Holy Spirit to help us overcome. If you have not yet put your trust in Him, we encourage you to call upon His name today, confess your need for Him, turn from sin, and follow Him.
We now pray together for you.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You for this dear one who feels lonely, depressed, and bound by addiction. Lord, we ask that You reveal Your nearness and Your unfailing love. Heal the brokenhearted and lift the heaviness of depression, and replace loneliness with the comfort of Your presence and with godly fellowship. Lord, we ask for deliverance from addiction, for strength to turn away and for the power of Your Holy Spirit to break every chain. Give a way of escape in every temptation and the courage to take it. Forgive sins, cleanse the heart, and renew the mind. Draw this dear one to Jesus, to salvation, to hope, and to new life in Him. Help them to seek You daily in Your Word and prayer, to walk in the light with other believers, and to find rest in Christ. We ask this in Jesus' name, believing You hear us and You are able to restore and redeem. Amen.
We encourage you to cry out to Jesus each day, to open His Word even when you do not feel like it, to pray honestly about your struggles, and to let faithful believers know how you are doing so they can support you. You are deeply loved by God and He is able to bring comfort in loneliness, joy in place of despair, and freedom where there has been bondage as you walk with Him.
