Loan

Your need has been brought before the Lord in prayer, and I thank you for sharing it so honestly. The pressure of bills that keep coming and the need for reliable transportation to meet them is a heavy burden, and God sees that burden. When finances are tight it can feel like deep water that might swallow you up, but Scripture reminds us that He is present with His people even there.

I want to encourage you to leave room for God to work in His own way. Under the old law there was even a provision made for the cleansing of a leper, though leprosy was considered incurable. That shows the heart of God to make a way where we would say there is no way. Do not put Him in a box or decide in advance how He must provide. He is able to open doors you have not expected, whether through work, through wise counsel, through unexpected provision, or through contentment with what you have while you wait.

It is also important to keep a right perspective on material things. A car is a useful tool, and it is understandable to want one you can depend on, but cars and all possessions are temporary. They shine for a time and then they fade, rust, and finally pass away. When our hearts become too attached to them we lose peace over every ding and disappointment. Ask the Lord to help you want most of all what lasts, and to use whatever vehicle He provides simply as a tool to serve Him and provide for your responsibilities.

Scripture speaks often about money and trust. One prophet rebuked the people because they were working hard but never had enough, and the reason was they had not put God first. We are taught to bring the first fruits of our increase to the Lord and to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that He will add what we need. That does not mean giving in order to get, and it does not mean God depends on our gifts. He is not in financial crisis waiting for us to rescue Him. Rather, we depend on Him. Even the believers in Macedonia, though they were poor and going through hardship themselves, gave generously to help other believers in Jerusalem who were suffering. And the apostle Paul, to avoid any charge of serving for money, worked with his own hands to meet his needs. These examples point to diligence, generosity according to what we have, and thankfulness to God month by month for how He sustains us.

Above all, remember the greatest debt has already been paid. We owed a debt for sin we could never pay and were sold into slavery to it, but Jesus redeemed us. He paid what we could not. The Spirit given to us is like a deposit, a guarantee that He will complete what He has begun. If He has been faithful to provide for your eternal need, you can trust Him to be faithful with your daily needs as well.

As you consider a loan, pray for wisdom and seek godly counsel before taking on debt. Scripture warns that the borrower becomes servant to the lender, so weigh carefully what you can truly afford, what the total cost will be, and whether there are other options such as additional work, budgeting help, or a less expensive vehicle that will still meet your needs. Be faithful with what you have now, work diligently, live within your means, and bring your needs to God daily.

My prayer for you is that God will provide for your bills and your need for transportation according to His wisdom, that He will give you peace that is not tied to things, that He will guide you to make wise and honest decisions with money, and that you will know more deeply that Jesus is sufficient and that your Father knows what you need. May He meet you in this season and show Himself faithful.
