Moving abroad can be a profound opportunity for spiritual growth, but it must be guided by God’s will and grounded in His Word.
First, we must address the foundation of your request. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so without delay. Scripture tells us, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB). There is no other name by which we can be saved, "Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me’" (John 14:6 WEB). If you have not confessed your sins, repented, and placed your faith in Christ, we pray you would do so today. Salvation is the first and most critical step in any journey of faith.
Now, concerning your desire to live overseas, we encourage you to seek the Lord’s guidance above all else. Not all environments will honor God, and some may even lead you into sin. Pray for discernment in choosing where to live, work, and fellowship.

The first thing to be weighed is not merely whether you shall live overseas, but whether the Lord is sending you there. A man may cross the sea and carry his own corruption with him, or he may remain at home and yet be useful. Therefore seek wisdom before you seek a ship. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men liberally and upbraids not. We all lack it. Ask in faith, and expect the Lord to guide rightly through all the difficulties of the way.
Your prayer for purity is a prayer after God's own heart. Purity and charity must not be set at odds. Do not let charity become an excuse for worldliness, and do not let a desire to learn a tongue become a door to unholiness. Keep yourself unspotted from the world. If you go abroad, let your lodgings, your company, your habits, and your friendships be such as you would not be ashamed to show in the presence of Christ. Let nothing make you set aside God's commands for marriage, chastity, or worship. The grand thing is not where you live, but whether you live as though Christ is yours.
Let prayer be your first resource, not a last resort. Before you pack, plead this: "Remember the Word unto Your servant." Use the promises as your arguments at the throne. And if the answer tarries, do not forsake the closet. There may be wrestling before the answer comes, and the Lord may make you limp before He makes you deliver. But prayer, mighty prayer, will prevail if it has but time.
For your prayer life, do not only pray alone; unite with praying people where you may. Many a backsliding is prevented and many a call is made clear in the prayer meeting. Your desire to live overseas, to learn Spanish and to grow in understanding has been heard, and I join my prayer to yours.
I pray that God will guide your steps and make His will clear to you, whether to go or to stay, and that wherever you are you may walk worthily of the Lord, bearing fruit in every good work. True wisdom and knowledge are not found in clever words or fleshly wisdom, but are treasures hidden in Christ, and I ask that He would shed His Spirit abroad in your heart and lead you into that depth of the riches of His wisdom and knowledge.
For your prayer life I pray especially that God would grant you purity of life and full assurance in the faith, for without purity of life there is no firm foundation. May He keep you as an example in word, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity, and strengthen you unto all patience and longsuffering with joy. As you seek to increase in the knowledge of God, may that knowledge be spiritual wisdom and understanding, shown forth in works and in a life that pleases Him, not only knowing but doing what is right.
If the Lord opens the door for you to go overseas, may He use your learning of language and culture for His glory and for the good of others, and may the prayers of your brothers and sisters go with you and sustain you. May He grant you a baptism of renewed grace, deliverance, and an inheritance of hope, and may He make you to increase and abound in every good thing as you press on toward perfection in Christ.
