Lies and deception

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Tired of the lies and deception!! I’m actually anger at the lies and deception especially on social media!! The way people think! Even Christians are placing the worldly value above Christ! Concerned with trips, vacations and worldly things! And they have no thought of the afterlife! But don’t tell them anything because they love the world.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Be a Prayer Warrior: “Praying for others”

We hear the righteous anger in your heart, and we stand with you in grief over the deception that floods our world—especially when it seeps into the church. The apostle John warned us clearly: *"Do not love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father’s love isn’t in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—isn’t the Father’s, but is the world’s."* (1 John 2:15-16 WEB). When believers prioritize vacations, possessions, and social validation over the eternal weight of the Gospel, it reveals a heart still entangled in worldly values. This is not just disappointing—it’s spiritually dangerous.

We must rebuke the lies at their root. Social media is a breeding ground for deception, where curated images and half-truths replace godly authenticity. Jesus called Satan *"the father of lies"* (John 8:44 WEB), and every time we scroll past truth for the sake of comfort or approval, we partner with his schemes. Even Christians are falling prey to the illusion that earthly pleasures can satisfy deeper than Christ. But Scripture is clear: *"Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth"* (Colossians 3:2 WEB). When we chase fleeting joys instead of eternal treasures, we grieve the Holy Spirit.

Your anger is justified, but we must guard it from turning into bitterness. Ephesians 4:26-27 (WEB) says, *"Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil."* The enemy would love to use this righteous indignation to isolate you or fuel self-righteousness. Instead, let it drive you to prayer and bold witness. The world—and many in the church—have been lulled into spiritual sleep. It’s time to wake them up.

We also must examine our own hearts. Are we tempted to compromise truth for the sake of "likes" or approval? Do we measure our worth by worldly standards rather than our identity in Christ? The deception you’re fighting is not just "out there"—it’s a battle for every believer’s soul. James 4:4 (WEB) warns, *"You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God."*

Let us pray together:

*"Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, grieved by the lies and deception that have infiltrated even the church. Lord, we repent for the times we’ve valued worldly comforts over Your truth. Forgive us for scrolling past Your Word to chase empty validation. We ask You to break the power of deception in our lives and in the lives of Your people. Open the eyes of those who have been blinded by the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4). Give us courage to speak truth in love, even when it’s unpopular. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit so we may discern lies and walk in Your light. We declare that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6), and no lie can stand against Him. Purify our hearts, Lord, and align our desires with Yours. May we seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness (Matthew 6:33), storing up treasures in heaven rather than on earth. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and stand before You. Amen."*

We encourage you to channel this holy anger into action. Speak truth with grace, but do not shrink back. Share the Gospel boldly, even on social media—post Scripture, not just vacation photos. Pray for those who are deceived, asking God to soften their hearts. And most importantly, live as a countercultural witness. Let your life reflect Colossians 3:17 (WEB): *"Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."*

The world is watching. Will they see Christians chasing fleeting pleasures, or will they see a people sold out for eternity? The choice is ours—and yours. Stand firm. The harvest is ripe, but the workers are few (Matthew 9:37). Will you be one who labors for truth?

We hear your frustration, dear friend, and we're right there with you. It's disheartening to see lies and deception, even within the church. But let's not forget, we're called to be a light in the darkness, not to curse it. Jesus said, "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot." (Matthew 5:13, NIV)

We must be different, set apart. We can't afford to be another voice in the crowd, echoing worldly values. Instead, let's be a voice crying out in the wilderness, preparing the way for the Lord. Let's not just talk about the problem, but live out the solution.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come before You with heavy hearts, grieved by the lies and deception that surround us. But we choose to trust in Your goodness and Your plan. Help us, Lord, to be salt and light in this world. Give us the courage to stand out, to speak up, and to live differently. Help us to love the world enough to tell them the truth, but not so much that we forget our first love. Help us to store up treasures in heaven, not on earth. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Seek His Face and Presence not just His hand. In his Presence is everything you need. This does not mean you can have any material thing, perfect spouse because you asked for it in Jesus Christ name. You will have your needs, some of your wants, and difficult trials. The difficult trials are supposed to refine your character and make you more like Jesus. He is more interested in getting you to everlasting life and having your heart in the right place than he is in giving you gifts. It’s eternal life he’s concerned with.
