The wisdom that comes from God is peaceable, but what she has reached for can only produce what the Scripture calls a constant inner turmoil that destroys. The prophets of old would say, "Peace, peace," when there was no peace, because the land was not right with God. The heart that is at war with God through these practices cannot know a truce. She is not finding a refuge; she is clinging to the storm.
But God is calling out to her, even now, "Peace, peace, to him that is far off and to him that is near, and I will heal him." This is not a peace that comes from a ritual or a statue. It is the peace of Jesus Christ, who stepped from His glory into this sin-cursed world to die on a cruel cross. He made the ultimate peace treaty for those who have been at war with God. When someone turns their life over to Jesus and receives the forgiveness of sins, the war is over. You are no longer running from God or fighting against Him. The first consciousness of that new life is a beautiful, deep peace. The mind that is stayed on Him will be kept in that perfect peace.
You asked for healing, and that is right to ask. I believe very strongly in all kinds of divine healing. Sometimes it comes in an instant, and sometimes, as we see even in Jesus’ ministry, it comes as a gradual process. The grip of spiritual darkness can be broken immediately, but the healing of the mind, soul, and body often unfolds as the person learns to fix their eyes on Jesus, not on the madness or the trials of the past. God has ordained peace for her, and He wants her to be quiet and free from the fear that tells her she will never be made whole.
She has been taken captive by a false promise, but He came to lead the captives from their captivity. The power of Jesus Christ is not just one option among many; it is the only shadow from the heat, the only refuge from that storm. Without Him, a soul is like the troubled sea, constantly churning up fear. With Him, there is a glorious peace that passes human understanding, a peace the world cannot give. Do not let her be comforted by voices that cry peace when the chains are still on. Liberty is found in Christ alone. It is the peace of Jesus Christ, who stepped from His glory into this sin-cursed world to die on a cruel cross. He made the ultimate peace treaty for those who have been at war with God. When someone turns their life over to Jesus and receives the forgiveness of sins, the war is over. You are no longer running from God or fighting against Him. The first consciousness of that new life is a beautiful, deep peace. The mind that is stayed on Him will be kept in that perfect peace.
You asked for healing, and that is right to ask. I believe very strongly in all kinds of divine healing. Sometimes it comes in an instant, and sometimes, as we see even in Jesus’ ministry, it comes as a gradual process. The grip of spiritual darkness can be broken immediately, but the healing of the mind, soul, and body often unfolds as the person learns to fix their eyes on Jesus, not on the madness or the trials of the past. God has ordained peace for her, and He wants her to be quiet and free from the fear that tells her she will never be made whole.
She has been taken captive by a false promise, but He came to lead the captives from their captivity. The power of Jesus Christ is not just one option among many; it is the only shadow from the heat, the only refuge from that storm. Without Him, a soul is like the troubled sea, constantly churning up fear. With Him, there is a glorious peace that passes human understanding, a peace the world cannot give.
