Let the truth shine

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me and the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me

We join together with you in prayer that the truth will indeed shine and that darkness will be exposed by the light of Christ. We thank God for your former landlord's sister and for her faith in Jesus, and we pray that the Lord will strengthen her and continue to use her as a vessel of truth and righteousness in her family.

We are grieved to hear about the life threatening condition of the apartment that was rented to you, and we take seriously what you have shared about the immorality and the attempts on your life. Scripture is clear that sexual intimacy outside of the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman is sin. If this woman had a sexual relationship with your former landlord outside of marriage, that is fornication and if either was married to another it is adultery, and God calls all to repentance from such sin. Hebrews 13:4 says Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. To knowingly rent a dangerous dwelling to someone is deceitful and unloving, violating the command to love your neighbor as yourself in Matthew 22:39. And to hire people to try to kill someone is attempted murder, which God abhors. Exodus 20:13 says You shall not murder.

We also cling to the promise that God sees all and that truth hidden in darkness will be brought into the light. Luke 8:17 says For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. Ephesians 5:11 says Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them. Ephesians 5:13 says But all things, when they are reproved, are revealed by the light, for everything that is revealed is light. John 8:32 says You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. We pray that this sister in Christ will not be kept in the dark, but that God will reveal to her what she needs to know and give her wisdom, courage, and love to speak the truth.

We lift you up for protection and justice as well, for our God is our refuge. Psalm 91:1-2 says He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Romans 12:19 reminds us Beloved, don’t avenge yourselves, but give place to God’s wrath, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. We do not seek revenge in our own hands, but we do pray that God will restrain evil, bring repentance where there is sin, and move upon the proper authorities to uphold justice, for governing authorities are appointed by God to punish wrongdoing as taught in Romans 13:4.

So we pray together now. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and we thank You for the sister who knows You and loves You. We ask that You fill her with Your Holy Spirit, with discernment and boldness, and continue to speak through her. Let her be a light in her family that cannot be hidden. Remove any veil or deception that would keep her from knowing the truth about the dangerous apartment and about the sinful and violent deeds that have been done. Give her words seasoned with grace and truth to call her brother to repentance, that he may turn from dishonesty, from sexual immorality, and from any participation in harming another. Lord, we pray for the former landlord himself, that You would convict his heart, that he would confess his sins and be saved and transformed by the blood of Jesus. We pray also for the woman involved in immorality and in this evil plot, that You would either bring her to deep repentance or, if she remains hardened, that You would expose her deeds and stop her from harming anyone else. Father, we place our brother or sister who submitted this request under Your protection. Surround them with Your angels, keep them safe from every scheme of the enemy, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. Bring the whole truth into the light in Your perfect timing and let justice be done according to Your will. Help our friend to walk in forgiveness as You have forgiven us, while also trusting You to be the righteous Judge, and give them peace that surpasses understanding as they wait on You. We ask all this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray for this sister and for your former landlord's salvation, and to trust that God is working even when you cannot see it. Continue to walk in the light, speak the truth in love, and take practical steps to remain safe, including reporting credible threats to the appropriate authorities, for God uses both prayer and lawful means to protect His people. Proverbs 28:13 says He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them obtains mercy. We pray that all involved will choose confession and mercy while there is still time.

We have been lifting this situation before the Lord with you, and we hear how heavy and frightening this has felt.

Wanting the truth to come into the light is a good and understandable desire, especially when you have felt unsafe in your own home. We are praying for the sister you mentioned, that God would keep strengthening her faith and give her wisdom and courage to be a steady, honest presence in her family. We are also praying for you, for protection and for peace as you carry this fear, and that any real wrongdoing would be brought into the light in the right way.

It can help to have someone nearby who knows what you are walking through. If you are feeling unsafe where you are living, or worried about threats, please reach out to a trusted pastor, counselor, or other safe person in your community who can walk with you in person and help you think through next steps for housing and safety. If you ever feel in immediate danger, please contact your local authorities or a trusted support person right away.

Father, we bring this whole situation to You. We ask You to watch over our friend, to guard them and give them peace and clear guidance. We pray for the sister to stay close to You and to be a voice for what is good and true, and we pray for all involved to be led toward honesty and repentance where it is needed. Give wisdom to everyone who can help bring safety and truth here. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request has been heard and we bring it before the throne of grace with you, asking that the God of truth would cause truth to shine and darkness to flee.

We thank the Lord that there is one in this family who has faith in Jesus Christ, for salvation is through Him alone. We pray that the Lord will strengthen this sister, that she may continue to walk in the truth of Holy Scripture, which is the standard of the truth of God, and that she may speak with boldness and love. As it is written, Buy the truth and sell it not. We pray that she would buy the truth at any price and hold it fast, and that the Lord would give her wisdom and courage to be a faithful witness in her own household, that her life and her words might be used to draw her brother toward repentance and toward Christ.

We pray that what has been hidden would be brought into the light. You have asked that she not be kept in the dark concerning the condition of the apartment that was rented to you, which you describe as life threatening, and concerning the sin that has been associated with it. We ask the Lord, who judges with unimpeachable justice and who lays justice to the line and righteousness to the plummet, to reveal what is true and to expose what is evil, that no soul may stumble through ignorance and that wrong may not be concealed. May the Lord give light where there has been darkness, and may all that is done in secret be made manifest, to the end that righteousness may be established and souls may be turned from sin.

We cannot ask God to bless what His Word calls sin, for He calls us to holiness. The sexual relationship outside of the covenant of marriage, which is ordained by God as the lifelong union of one man and one woman, is contrary to His holy law, and living together apart from that covenant is outside His design. We therefore do not pray for the continuance or blessing of such a union, but we pray for repentance. We pray that both the former landlord and the woman of whom you speak would be brought under deep conviction of sin, that the Holy Spirit would pass sentence upon the old man and show them the holiness of God's law, and that they would smite upon their breast and confess their sin before God. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, because justice has been satisfied at the Cross where Christ bore the stripes and punishment for sinners. Oh that they would turn every man from his evil ways and find forgiveness and new life through the blood of Jesus.

We also lift before the Lord your concern for your own safety. You speak of attempts upon your life. We pray for your preservation, that the Lord who draws His people from the dominion of the devil and from spiritual death would be your keeper and your shield. We ask that the Lord would restrain the hand of violence, frustrate every evil intent, and bring to nothing any counsel that seeks harm. We pray that justice would be done according to the law of the land and according to the higher justice of God, and that you would be kept in perfect peace as you wait only upon God, for your expectation is from Him.

We pray that the former landlord would be changed, not merely by human influence, but by the power of divine grace. Man cannot free himself from the yoke of sin apart from that grace, but with God all things are possible. May the positive influence of his sister be as a light set upon a hill, and may the Lord add His own effectual call, drawing him to the foot of the Cross and to the throne of grace.

May the Lord, who has loved His people with an everlasting love, grant you to taste not of the pitcher but of the well itself, to know His everlasting love in Christ, to be kept by His power, and to see truth prevail in this matter for His glory and for the good of souls. We commit you and all concerned to Him who is both just and the justifier of him that believes in Jesus. Amen.
