Legal Guardianship Hearing

We have had legal guardianship of two siblings for the past 5+ years. I won’t go into much detail about the biological parent, but there is a history of drugs, having another newborn taken at birth, homelessness, etc. A lot has transpired since the filing of guardianship to be revoked and kids to go back with biological parent. The kids are concerned especially since they have school, church, activities, etc that they have been connected to. All of which were withheld from them in youngest years before our guardianship. Bio parent will not agree to church (biggest concern for younger sibling as she is a devote Christian even at her young age). The other major concern for all is that we were always willing to work with bio parent to see kids and visit. The kids for the most part have chosen no contact for multiple reasons since bio parent has tried in the past year. Again - we always stayed optimistic and supportive of maintaining a safe environment for kids while also asking if they want phone calls/visits with bio parent. However, we know that if guardianship is terminated for us and kids go back with biological parent, it will be a hostile situation in which biological parent may leave state altogether and definitely will not keep contact with us (the community kids have built, and the younger siblings they’ve been raised with here). The trial is coming up soon. Please pray for these kids no matter the outcome. There is a chance that just because bio parent is trying, that they could go despite some concerns. We wouldn’t be as worried if we could be a supportive and still connected part of their lives (including support for bio parent). It’s just not a good situation anymore (they’ve had to try to make us the bad guys in order to win the case and TRY convince the kids to leave us - the kids have told their lawyers they don’t want to, but I’ve heard sometimes that doesn’t matter).

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up these two precious children and the difficult situation surrounding their guardianship. Father, we know that You see every detail of their lives, past, present, and future, and we trust in Your sovereign will. You tell us in Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Lord, these children have been raised in Your ways, surrounded by love, stability, and the truth of Your Word. We pray that no matter what happens in this hearing, their faith in You would remain unshaken.

We also lift up the biological parent, asking that You would work in their heart. We know that change is possible through Your power, as Ezekiel 36:26 says, "I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh." If it is Your will, Lord, soften their heart toward You and toward these children. May they recognize the importance of the spiritual foundation that has been laid in their lives.

We rebuke the spirit of division and hostility that seeks to tear this family apart. James 3:16 warns, "For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed." We declare that confusion and evil will not prevail in this situation. We pray for wisdom for the judge, that they would see the truth and make a decision that aligns with Your will for these children’s well-being, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Father, we ask that You would protect these children from fear and anxiety. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." May Your peace surround them, even in the uncertainty. For the younger sibling, who holds her faith so dear, we pray that she would stand firm, knowing that You are her refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1).

If it is Your will, Lord, we ask that the guardianship remain in place so that these children can continue to grow in the stability, love, and godly influence they have known. But if the outcome is different, we pray that You would go before them, preparing a way for their protection and continued connection to the body of Christ. We ask that You would open doors for ongoing relationships with those who have loved and supported them, so they would not feel abandoned or isolated.

Above all, we pray that Your name would be glorified in this situation. May these children grow up to know You more deeply, to trust in Your plans for them, and to walk in the purpose You have for their lives. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who holds all things together (Colossians 1:17). Amen.

We’ve been carrying your family and these two children in our hearts and prayers since we read your request. The weight of a trial like this is enormous, and your love for them comes through so clearly.

What stands out to us is the faithful, steady home you’ve given these kids, not just safety, but a place where they can grow in faith and live ordinary, rooted lives. That stability has shaped them deeply. Even now, the younger one’s love for Jesus is a gift no courtroom ruling can erase. We’re holding on to that hope with you.

We know the fear of a hostile future and severed ties is heavy. The uncertainty can feel suffocating. But we also trust that God sees each of these children and goes before them into any unknown. We’re praying for the judge to have uncommon wisdom and compassion, and for the outcome to truly serve the children’s well‑being.

One thing you can continue doing is exactly what you’ve already done: be the steady, honest presence they trust. They’ve told their lawyers where they want to be. That honest bond is your strongest testimony, and it will keep anchoring them, whatever happens. In these tense weeks, try to simply keep showing up for the ordinary moments, dinner, a drive, a quiet word. That normalcy is a lifeline.

Jesus, we lift these two children to you. Guard their hearts and minds. Shelter their faith, and let no earthly pressure pull them from you. Grant the judge clarity and a deep sense of what is truly best for these kids. Surround this whole family with your peace, and let them feel your nearness in the waiting. In your name, Amen.

There is laid upon every believing heart the charge to bear one another's burdens, and this plea comes before us as a weighty cry from those who have stood in the gap for these little ones. The trial of your faith in this matter is no light thing, yet it is precisely in such seasons that faith proves its worth. You have been father and mother to these children, and now the adversary would tear them away, but the Lord God is the defender of the fatherless, and He hears the groaning of His people.

Little Samuel was taught to pray, “Speak, Lord; for Your servant hears.” Has not that very prayer been planted in the heart of the younger child? It is a glorious thing when the Holy Spirit kindles devotion in a young soul, and no court of man can quench that sacred fire. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and this precious girl has learned it. Cry mightily to God that her faith fail not, for Satan aims his fiercest darts at the faith of God’s little ones. But greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.

You speak of a trial that presses hard upon you. It is the very nature of faith to be tried, do not think it strange. Was not our Lord Himself tempted in all points? Yet He ever lives to intercede. Remember, it is not your prayer alone, but Christ’s prayer that upholds the trembling soul. “I have prayed for thee,” He said to Simon Peter, and He says it still for all His own. He never prays a deceitful prayer; if He pleads for these children, He loves them, He has chosen them. Rest in that.

Earnest prayer is what Paul besought of the saints at Rome, an agonizing, wrestling supplication. This is no time for cold words. Let the prayer meeting become a battlefield where you cry, “Lord, help me!” It is a handy prayer, a cry that fits every strait. When the judge is seated, when the witnesses speak, when your heart sinks within you, let that groan go up: “Lord, help me!” He will not finally refuse such a plea.

Do not be cast down if sight offers little comfort. When all is dark, faith sees best. You have done right to stand with these children, to build a home for them in the house of God. Now trust them into the hands of Him who is the Father of the fatherless. The Lord may use this very trial to work a deeper work, perhaps in the biological parent, perhaps in the children themselves. It is our part to pray and then go forward in child-like confidence. God never fails the man who rests entirely upon Him.

Let this burden drive you to the mercy seat, not away from it. Cause your face to shine upon Your sanctuary, O Lord, pray thus for these little ones who have found a place among the people of God. Do it for the children’s sake, that they may not be torn from the means of grace. I beseech you, brethren, join in agonizing prayer for this household, for the days are evil and the adversary would stamp out the faith of the young. Yet faith is the victory that overcomes the world.

When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth? Yes, He will find it in the hearts of those who, like this dear family, have cast themselves upon Him in the day of trouble. Hold fast. The Lord is near. Be not afraid, only believe.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The trial draws near, and your hearts are heavy with care for the little ones. Yet let not anxiety choke out faith. Recall the woman who cried for her tormented daughter; Christ did not merely grant healing but proclaimed, “Great is thy faith,” teaching that her own soul’s fervor opened the door to mercy. So now your faith, and the faith of that young child who clings to Christ with such devotion, is no small power. Even if earthly judges sit and weigh what they see with eyes of flesh, the cry of a believing heart ascends higher. When the blind men who saw nothing cried aloud for mercy, they received their sight not because they understood the manner of the cure, but because they believed. And the Lord Himself hastened to crown their faith before He touched their eyes. In the same way, the child who loves the Bridegroom’s voice has already received the seed that no human decree can snatch away.

Do not fix your hopes on the verdict of men, for the laws of the world often war against the law of Christ. What good is it if a court gives you outward victory yet leaves the soul wounded by rancor? And if the result seems harsh, remember: the ones who refuse to suffer wrong and rush to worldly tribunals are already defeated, even when they seem to win. The true judgment belongs to God alone, and in that court no bribe can pervert the sentence. Rather, keep praying that whether these children remain under your roof or are taken elsewhere, the fear of God they have learned from their earliest years will stand as a wall that cannot be broken. You have done a widow’s work, instilling in them what no father’s wealth can provide. God Himself will be their protector; when that inner guard is seated within the soul, no outward calamity can overthrow it.

Stand then like John the Baptist, who, hearing the Bridegroom’s voice, rejoiced because his own part was complete. You have brought these little ones to the threshold of the Church; now trust the voice that called them. Let your prayers be not sheer lamentation but the quiet confidence of those who know that faith comes by hearing, and that the word planted in a young heart is never easily uprooted. Be not careless hearers of this counsel, lest the very word you have received become a witness against you. The children are in the hands of the Judge who sees all. Whatever the earthly outcome, their souls are known to Him. So take courage: the faith they have confessed, even at a tender age, will cry out for them far more loudly than any advocate in a court of men.

The weight you are carrying right now is real, and the trial ahead feels like a storm gathering over the children you have loved and raised. It is hard to pour out years of care and then watch human decisions threaten everything they have come to know. But what the Lord has planted in that younger one’s heart, her devotion to Christ, her longing for worship, is not something a courtroom can overturn. That faith is a gift from God, and He does not abandon what He gives.

Faith is proved in exactly these kinds of moments. It is one thing to believe when the path is smooth, but the early church learned that a genuine trust in Jesus often walked hand in hand with suffering, not instant deliverance. Some were tortured, not because their faith was weak, but because it was real and held fast to a kingdom beyond this one. The children’s desire to stay in church and in the community you have built around them is not a small thing. It is the living evidence of faith at work, the kind of fruit James insisted would always accompany a true, saving trust. The younger sister’s insistence on being with God’s people shows that her faith is active, not just a word.

Remember that the Lord who opened the door of faith for them remains with them, even if another human door slams shut. You taught them that the church is not a building, it is the people of God. That bond in the Spirit cannot be severed by a move across state lines. The early believers held all things together, forming a community that supported one another when the world pressed in. Even if visible contact is broken for a season, the invisible hand of God holds them. He hears the cries of the young, and their voices, though they may seem small in a legal proceeding, echo loudly in heaven.

Do not be discouraged by what looks like a lapse in control. Great men of faith, like Elijah, had moments of hiding in a cave, and yet God was not finished with them. The faith of a child may tremble under pressure, but the Good Shepherd carries the lambs close to His heart. This trial is not a sign that faith has failed; it is the proving of faith, the refining fire that shows what is genuine. And you have already demonstrated a willingness to work with the biological parent, to seek peace and not retaliation. That love, which keeps hoping and stays open to relationship, reflects the very heart of Christ.

Leave room for the Lord to act in ways no one can predict. The prayer of faith can move mountains, but even when the mountain remains, grace is sufficient. We will pray with you, not merely for a favorable ruling, but for the children’s hearts to be guarded by the peace that surpasses all understanding. They belong to Jesus before they belong to any human arrangement. The faith that brought them to new life is held secure by the One who began that good work, and He will carry it on to completion, no matter what.

We are so grateful that you shared this heavy burden with us and allowed us to stand in the gap for these precious children and your family. Our hearts have been lifted in prayer daily for wisdom, protection, and God’s perfect will to be done in this guardianship hearing.

We continue to pray that the Lord would go before the judge, the lawyers, and all involved, softening hearts and opening eyes to what is truly best for these siblings. May He grant them stability, peace, and the assurance of His love, no matter the outcome. We ask for special comfort for the younger child, who clings to her faith, that she would feel God’s presence and know He has not forgotten her. We also pray for the biological parent—that if it is God’s will for the children to return, He would work a transformation in every area of concern and open the door for healing and reconciliation.

Most of all, we pray that whatever decision is made, these children would remain surrounded by love, security, and the opportunity to grow in their faith. If it is the Lord’s plan for them to stay in your care, we ask for favor in the courtroom and for any false narratives to be exposed. If it is His will for them to return to their biological parent, we pray for grace upon grace—for open communication, continued connection with the community they’ve grown to love, and protection from any harm or instability.

If this trial has already taken place and the Lord has answered in a way that brings peace, we would be overjoyed to hear a praise report from you. If the outcome is still uncertain or not what you hoped for, please know we are still here, lifting every concern to the Father. You are not alone in this.

May God’s peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. We pray this in His mighty and holy name. Amen.
