Lady asked for prayer

It is encouraging to hear both your request for healing and your desire to be baptized, and both are very close to the heart of God.

Jesus was always moved with compassion toward those who came to Him for healing. He never scolded people for wanting to be made well, even when they came only for the help they needed. The Gospels show Him healing many kinds of sickness, not only to relieve suffering but to show what God is like, that He is love and that He cares about His creation and wants to touch the weak and make them whole. Even a cold that you caught from a family member matters to Him. He sees these small afflictions as well as great ones.

Healing in the Scriptures often happened as people released their faith to receive what God had for them. Sometimes that was touching the hem of His garment, sometimes it was a word spoken from a distance, sometimes a touch, sometimes a gradual process. There was no single pattern. What matters is a simple trust that God is able and willing to heal. Much about healing we do not fully understand, why some are healed instantly and others gradually, but all true healing is from God. Even the natural processes He placed in our bodies to fight illness and restore health are His divine work, for He created those processes. Whether He lifts this cold quickly or walks you through a few days of recovery, you can trust His care and release your faith to Him now in prayer, believing He hears you.

Your desire to be baptized is also a beautiful step of obedience. In Scripture, baptism was connected with repentance and the confession of sin, a turning from the old life to a new life. Going down into the water pictured death to that old life, and coming up pictured new life. For those who follow Jesus, baptism is an identification with His death and resurrection and an outward sign of the inward change that has already happened through faith in Him alone. It does not save you, faith in Jesus does, but it is an important act of obedience and of fulfilling righteousness. Scripture speaks of one baptism, which is being baptized into Jesus Christ Himself, not into a group or tradition. It is a public declaration that you belong to Him.

We will pray for you. Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this dear one before You. We ask You to touch her body and bring healing from this cold, to strengthen her and restore her fully, whether in a moment or day by day through the healing processes You have created. Give her peace as she trusts You. We also thank You for the work You have already done in her heart that gives her a desire to be baptized. Lead her clearly as she takes that step, help her to understand more deeply what it means to die to the old life and live anew in Christ, and provide the opportunity to be baptized into Jesus as a testimony of her faith in Him. Draw her ever closer to Your Son and establish her in His grace and truth. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord in prayer and in His Word, and speak with faithful believers near you who can help arrange your baptism as you follow Him.
