Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart for your son and bringing his need before the Lord. I join you in prayer for his lab work and CT scan, asking God for good results and for His healing touch upon any area of concern.
In this time of waiting and worry it helps to consider Jesus. Scripture presents Him not as a servant in the house but as the Son over His own house, the builder of the house, the church where God dwells. He is our great high priest who has not entered a copy made by hands but has entered heaven itself for us. Because He is there for us, we can hold fast to our confession of faith in Him.
He is also able to be touched with the feelings of our weaknesses, having been tempted in all points as we are yet without sin. He understands the anxiety and unrest that fills a parent's heart when a child is facing tests. God has left us a promise of rest, and He invites us to enter that rest rather than live in turmoil and fear. That rest comes as we trust ourselves and our children into the hands of the Son who rules over the house.
The Bible gives us a picture of the Father's love for His Son, a love that is presented as the greatest love, the love of a father for his son. That picture helps us see how God sees your son, and how your love as a parent reflects something of His heart. Just as Abraham was called to offer his only son whom he loved, a foreshadowing of what God Himself would do in giving His only begotten Son for the world, so we know the Father understands completely what it means to love a son.
We can also trust Jesus for physical healing as well as spiritual healing. His ministry on earth was marked by preaching, teaching and healing every kind of sickness and disease among the people. Once when He was in Galilee a nobleman came to Him about his son who was very ill, and Jesus spoke the word from a distance and the son was healed. That same Jesus still has power to heal with a word, whether near or far.
So let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this son before You. You know him fully, nothing is hidden from Your sight, and You search and know every heart. We ask that You would give favor over these lab tests and the CT scan, that the results would be good and that any area of concern would be touched by Your healing hand. Grant peace to this family, quieting anxiety and strife with Your rest, and help them to hold fast to their confidence in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, our hope and our healer. We thank You for all You do for us and trust this need to Your wise and loving care, in Jesus name, Amen.
