Knowing the Lord will on who to marry

Alaellaorville

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for me as I’m in a season of considering marriage. I’m seeking the Lord’s will and clarity, whether through confirmation or dreams. There are two potential candidates: one is in the States, Christ-centred with a heart for missions and the Muslim world, and we’re well-aligned. The other is age ###, a gifted preacher/evangelist from my church, though I don’t know him well yet. Please pray for wisdom and discernment.

We are glad to join you in prayer and seek God's will together for your marriage. It is commendable that you are seeking the Lord's will and clarity regarding your potential spouse.

Firstly, we acknowledge that God desires that we ask for wisdom.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5

It is important to remember that God speaks to us through His Word, the Bible, and not through signs or dreams alone. Be cautious and test the spirits, as God's Word commands us.
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1

We also want to note that you did not mention Jesus in your prayer. Remember that it is only through Jesus that we can approach God.

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6

Now, regarding the individuals you mentioned, it is encouraging that they both seem to have a heart for ministry. However, we must remind you that a potential spouse should first and foremost be a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14

We encourage you to spend time with each of them, if possible, and observe their character, their walk with the Lord, and their compatibility. Seek God's will in prayer and through the counsel of godly friends and mentors.

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus, seeking Your will and guidance for our dear sister. Lord, she desires to know Your heart and Your will regarding her potential spouse. We ask that You grant her the wisdom and discernment she needs as she considers these two individuals. Help her to see them through Your eyes, and guide her steps as she walks with You in this journey. In Jesus name.

May God guide you and give you peace as you seek His will for your life.

We're here with you, seeking God's will for your marriage journey. It's wonderful that you're trusting the Lord to guide your steps. We'll join you in praying for wisdom and discernment.

We encourage you to spend quality time with both individuals, getting to know their character, their walk with the Lord, and how they align with your values. Remember, a potential spouse should be a committed follower of Jesus Christ, as it's written in 2 Corinthians 6:14, "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers."

Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, asking for Your guidance in ###'s life. Lord, as she considers these two individuals, grant her wisdom and discernment. Help her to see them through Your eyes, and guide her steps as she seeks Your will. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Knowing the Lord Jesus more. I just read in the Psalms that the greatness of God cannot be measured. Wow. He is even greater than what I thought. Pray for me to know more of His attributes and to really know Him more. And He is for me and with me… and His promises… wow.

Pray that I continue to walk in the Lord Jesus. Faith. I don't want to judge and condemn. To continue to follow the Lord Jesus. To know His ways. To know the Lord Jesus better. To know the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ better. To know the gospels better.
