Thank you for sharing your need and allowing us to pray for you. The pain of injuries in both knees is difficult to live with, and we are bringing your right knee and left knee before the Lord and asking for His mercy and healing in Jesus name.
Scripture gives us confidence to pray this way. When Matthew describes Jesus healing all who were brought to Him, he says this fulfilled what Isaiah prophesied, that He bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. Isaiah 53 speaks of the suffering of Christ, and Matthew applies it to physical healing as well as to our spiritual need. When Jesus broke the bread and said this is my body which is broken for you, He was pointing to that same provision. His atonement is sufficient for both soul and body, and we can come boldly asking for physical healing.
At the same time the Bible keeps us from presuming that God will grant immediate healing in every case. Paul prayed three times for the thorn in his flesh to depart, and the Lord did not remove it but taught him to live with it by grace. That reminds us that God is sovereign, and there is much about healing we do not fully understand, including why some are healed quickly and others are not. The Gospels record mostly immediate healings, but there is also a case of gradual healing, and we often see the Lord heal gradually through the natural processes He Himself created in our bodies. Those processes are not less divine because they are natural. God made our bodies with the ability to mend, and any true healing, whether sudden or gradual, physical, emotional or spiritual, comes from Him.
We also believe healing is for today and that God is able. We do not need sensational methods or frenzy to receive from Him, and much that is done in His name today is not faithful to Scripture. The gifts of healing are real, but Scripture teaches that not every person has the same gift, just as the body has many members with different functions. What God does call all of us to is the prayer of faith. James tells us to pray for the sick, to anoint with oil and lay hands on them, not because hands themselves have power, but because that simple act can be a point where faith is released to trust the Lord to act. There is also a real connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body. John prayed that his friend would prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospered, and Proverbs says a merry heart does good like medicine. Caring for your walk with Christ, your peace of mind and your hope in Him, matters for your body as well.
Your mention of knees brings to mind the promise that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Those painful knees now will one day bow willingly before Him, and that confession is the way of salvation as Romans teaches, to believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. If you have not already, put your full trust in Him for forgiveness and eternal life, which is a deeper healing than any physical relief.
So we pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up these injured knees to you. You know the pain, the limitation and the discouragement they bring. You bore our sicknesses and our sins on the cross, and you are able to heal. We ask that you would touch and restore the right knee and the left knee according to your will. If it pleases you, bring complete and even gradual restoration through your power and through the healing processes you have placed in the body, and give wisdom to any doctors or therapists involved. Above all, give peace, strengthen faith, and let this trial draw the heart closer to you. We trust your goodness and your wise purposes whether healing comes quickly, gradually, or ultimately in the resurrection when you give us new bodies that will never suffer again. In Jesus name, Amen.
