Beloved of All
We join you in thanking God that His Word does not return empty but accomplishes what He purposes, like rain that waters the earth, and that the seed is the Word of God. You have planted and others will water, but only God gives the growth, and to Him be all glory. We continue to pray with you that He who began a good work will carry it to completion until the day of Christ.
We pray as you have asked, that the kindness of God would lead to true repentance. Scripture teaches that godly sorrow works repentance unto salvation, not to be regretted, while the sorrow of the world works death. True repentance is not only tears but a turning of the heart that is washed by repentance, by prayer, by works of mercy, and by a changed life. It is not like Esau who sought the blessing with tears but without a true change of heart. God has not taken away repentance from those who fall, and there is hope for all who turn to Him in humility, for before honor comes humility and God humbles those who need to be humbled so they may come to their senses as the prodigal did.
We pray that the Holy Spirit will continue His work of convicting of sin and guiding into truth, restraining evil, and bringing fresh truth across her path and across the paths of all who have heard the Word, including family members and generations before and after. We pray that God in His perfect patience, who desires all to come to repentance and to the knowledge of the truth, would order steps as He did for the evangelist and the official in Acts 8, and for those sent to find Saul, and for the apostles led to Macedonia, and that He would bring faithful people to speak truth and to show His kindness.
We give thanks that the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two edged sword, judging the thoughts and intents of the heart, and that the Father is always working. We ask for protection for you, for her, for your children and family, and for all who serve Christ, that you would be kept from evil, deception, and temptation by receiving a love of the truth.
We also hold before God the holiness of marriage as He ordained it. Marriage is a bond ordained of God, honorable and pure, and holiness in marriage is chaste and orderly living, each remaining faithful within the covenant of one man and one woman as God designed from the beginning. Sex and living together belong within that lifelong covenant, and its purpose is to preserve purity and to reflect faithfulness. We do not ask God to bless what is outside His design, but we ask Him to restore what is broken, to make conduct pure, and to keep the marriage bed undefiled. Where there has been stain, we pray for washing and renewal through genuine repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone, for salvation belongs to our God who sits upon the throne and unto the Lamb, and there is no other name by which we are saved.
We thank Him in advance that He rewards those who diligently seek Him and that the fervent prayer of the righteous avails much. We ask for great and mighty things beyond all we can ask or imagine, that His name alone would receive glory, and we ask all this in the name of Jesus, in whom all the promises are Yes and Amen.
