We join with you in lifting up your precious children before the Lord, knowing that He hears the cries of a parent’s heart and delights in watching over His little ones. Your love for your daughter and son is a reflection of the Father’s perfect love for them, and we stand in agreement with you, claiming His promises over their lives.
The Scriptures remind us in Proverbs 22:6, *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."* This is both a command and a promise—God calls us to raise our children in His ways, and He assures us that His truth will remain with them. Yet we also know that the world is filled with snares and influences that seek to pull them away from the path of righteousness. That is why we must cover them in prayer, just as you are doing, and trust that the Lord is faithful to guard them.
We also take comfort in Psalm 121:7-8, which declares, *"The Lord will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. The Lord will watch over your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forevermore."* This is our confidence—that no matter where your children go or what they face, God is their protector and guide. He sees every step they take, and His hand is upon them.
You have prayed for them to be shielded from bad influences, and we echo that plea, knowing that *"evil company corrupts good morals"* (1 Corinthians 15:33). We ask the Lord to surround your children with godly friends, mentors, and teachers who will point them to Christ. May they be like Daniel, who, even in a pagan culture, remained steadfast in his faith because he purposed in his heart to honor God (Daniel 1:8).
We also lift up their education and future choices, praying that the Lord would grant them wisdom beyond their years. James 1:5 tells us, *"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."* May your children seek God’s wisdom in every decision, whether in their studies, friendships, or the direction of their lives. Let them not lean on their own understanding but acknowledge Him in all their ways, so that He may direct their paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
You have covered them with the blood of Jesus, and we affirm that there is no greater protection than this. The blood of Christ is our shield against the enemy’s schemes, and we declare that no weapon formed against your children shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). May they walk in the light of God’s truth, unshaken by the darkness of this world. Let them know, even from a young age, that they can come boldly to the throne of grace in their time of need (Hebrews 4:16). Teach them to pray, to seek God’s face, and to trust in Him completely.
We also encourage you, as their parent, to continue to be a living example of faith before them. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 says, *"These words, which I command you today, shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up."* Your consistent walk with Christ will leave a lasting imprint on their hearts.
Now, let us pray together over your daughter and son:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, thanking You for the gift of these children. You have entrusted them to this parent’s care, and we ask that You would equip and strengthen them to raise these little ones in Your ways. Lord, we pray for [daughter’s name] and [son’s name], that You would watch over them day and night. Protect them from every evil influence, every snare of the enemy, and every harm that would seek to come against them. Surround them with Your angels, as You have promised, and let no weapon formed against them prosper.
Father, we cover them with the precious blood of Jesus, from the top of their heads to the soles of their feet. Let that blood be a hedge of protection around them, a shield against the schemes of the devil. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in wisdom, discernment, and purity. Give them a hunger for Your Word and a heart that seeks You above all else.
Guide them in their studies, Lord, and grant them favor with their teachers and peers. Let them excel not just in knowledge but in character, that they may be lights in a dark world. Help them to make choices that honor You, even when it is difficult. Give them the courage to stand for what is right and the humility to turn away from what is wrong.
We pray that they would come to know You personally, Father—not just as the God of their parents, but as their own Lord and Savior. Draw them to Yourself, Lord Jesus, and let them experience Your love in a way that transforms their lives. May they grow to be mighty men and women of God, firmly planted in Your truth, bearing fruit that remains.
Give their parent peace, Lord, knowing that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in these children (Philippians 1:6). Remove any fear or anxiety and replace it with trust in Your sovereign care. Help them to rest in the knowledge that You love [daughter’s name] and [son’s name] even more than they do.
We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is worthy of all praise and glory. Amen.
