Keeping our word

Jesus said,"Let your yes mean yes,and your no, no".NOT,"Promise something, but let your words mean nothing".But nowadays, someones word means nothing, and people even admit that!!I've been on the heavy end of this myself. One, I've had,not new aquantances I've met but"friends"{?}tell me they'll respond if I contact them, then don't.Like, my cousin I'd call, she'd say, I'll call you back at x time. The time comes and goes, she'd NEVER call on time, maybe 3 weeks later she would, then rush me off the phone. But this was every time. Another "friend" would say,he'll keep in touch, a few weeks after dropping him a line, when I asked what he thought of what I wrote,he said he didn't even open the letter yet!!And others who I used to be friends with, they'll express an interest in keeping in touch, you email them, they sent you back maybe 1 email, then you're history to them. Now what has this has to do with Christian morals, well, isn't this a form of dishonesty, which is preached against in the Bible? If they're too busy, or into "out of sight, out of mind", just say, hey, we had a good friendship, but now circumstances are different."Wouldn't that be more moral than stringing someone along, and the person takes it literally, then gets disappointed? The second category is deadbeats, who borrow money,"swear they'll pay it back on x date, delay it, don't let you know when there's a delay,{you have to seek them out to ask about your own money, after you were nice enough to lend them}AND,they get annoyed with you for expecting your money back!!Sometimes, they'll even ask for more money before paying back the first amount!!So is being a deadbeat, as well as stringing the person along, a sin?{I mean, they don't even TRY to put the money aside, they'll spend it on what THEY want}.I've also seen girls tell guys ,I'll meet you at x time at x place, and didn't , because she knew all along she had a steady boyfriend or was married. No wonder in Revelation we read,of the sinners that are OUTSIDE the gates of Heaven,"And all liars."And"You are of your father the devil. That one was a liar from the beginning, and the truth was not in him."I don't think God approves of us making flippant statements that we have no intention of backing up. And you say?

Sry abt my english.

No is perfect in d world accept jesus s good 1. This why bible says do not belive in man believe in lord. He never leave us. Wat ever stuvation he never leave us. Amen

Haven't you ever read verses in the Bible regarding all of us as liars? Psalms 116:11 & Romans 3:4 point that out. God ultimately is the one in control of our lives so we should always add Lord willing if we plan on paying someone back or being somewhere on time. We shouldn't give or loan someone money if we expect it back. Ultimately God blessed us with whatever we have so if we loan it, it's God's to defend. We shouldn't trust man, we should only trust Jesus.

If they make a statement that they'll pay back, and the person loans them, they should live up to their word. It's about being honest. Also, their attitude, they'll press your for it when they need it, and swear up and down they'll pay it back on x date, but once they have it, all of a sudden it's no rush.Christians usually go overboard in "covering for " people who are wrong. Me, if I promise someone something,I go out of my way to deliver.Nothing wrong with doing what you said you would. Also, they should learn from their mistakes.I've promised people I'd be able to do something at a certain time, but from experience I learned that things pop up, so now I cover myself by saying,"if" thus and so.

Have you ever read Luke 16 about the unjust steward?

I wasn't justifying anyone. I was just trying to give you some wisdom. It is usually a friend or a relative that will ask to borrow money from us. I look at it straight forward from the Bible, Jesus instructions. Do we want them to be under bondage? Here I am blessed with wisdom from God, I am His beloved child, I'm saved, I'm sanctified, I'm forgiven of a great many-even multitudes of sins that I owed at a great price, I'm adopted into a great multitude of blessings and a friend asks of me to borrow money. If I need it, I know I can do everything Jesus did and more, I can catch a fish that will have everything I need in it's mouth so if I have it to lend, I will use that to lead someone to Jesus. I will tell them here is what you asked to borrow, it is not mine to lend for I belong to Jesus so I'm giving it to you as unto Jesus, if you wanted it as a loan and you wanted to pay me back than pay it back to God and Jesus will over bless you as Jesus has over blessed me to be able to give to you.

Mathew 18:23-35 we read of a servant that owed a great deal to his master, his master forgave him the debt but he went and did not do likewise to a fellow servant so he was punished for his behavior. Do we want to get punished for our behavior?

Do you know the story of the widow's mite? She gave the least in man's eye yet she gave the most in God's eye for she gave all that she had.

We lead by example. If we aren't doing Jesus instructions, how are we going to lead others to Him? If we think about our lives yet Jesus didn't think about His life for us, are we going to be blessed if we follow Jesus example and stop thinking about our lives as well or are we going to be cursed for holding someone accountable to us because they owe us money that was originally, ultimately given to us from God?

It's not so much the paying back, it's that they made a dishonest statement.{Notice I mentioned other untrue statements they made in other categories}. I think it's a form of dishonesty, especially if they know the circumstances beforehand and mislead you. They also get input from other people, encouraging them to do do wrong, like,"What do you care about __so and so?" to me, it's also a form of selfishness. Also to be noted, some take that as a sign of weakness, and take advantage of you for it.And finally, the people who ask you for a sinful request, like, they want the money for drugs or a prostitute. If you lend them, you'd actually be encouraging them in their sin,and how would that be helpful? If someone says. my wife is away, do me a favor and tell my mistress I'm available now....in other words, we're supposed to help, but I think we should also read between the lines. If they want your resources for an evil end, and they know it, and you give in, you would be doing more harm by giving in in that case.I'd say sometimes we have to look at the circumstances.

No one is telling you to give someone money that is going to use it for something evil. If you see someone with a sign, you don't have to give them money but if you have time, offer to take them and buy them a meal. Then share Jesus with them :)

I shared with you because you seem bound up by others lying to you. Why do we think about our lives especially when it seems to bind our very own selves? Why not give of ourselves if we can help someone?

I had a friend that was bound to drugs calling me when he was in trouble. I would go rescue him with some gas, I would feed him, give him a place to sleep. He would lie to me about paying me back, his check bounced but I didn't stop helping him and I didn't hold anything against him at least not to the point of stopping to help him if I had the time. Granted he made some incredible promises to me but when I went before God I had to go with him forgiven in my heart. Eventually this friend returned to Jesus and when I was in need he GAVE me about 10 times what I spent on him. Now if I had refused to keep helping him and given up on him where would I have been when I needed him? Where would my friend be if I hadn't shown him true Christian love? Would he have returned to Jesus if I gave up on him?

If we want to be forgiven shouldn't we forgive others? Are you forgiven or not forgiven? How many lies have you been forgiven for? How many sins have you been forgiven for? What is our place in the Kingdom of God? Are we destined to spend eternity in the lake of lava beneath our feet or securely in Jesus to be in the new Heaven and Earth? Jesus is very real and He is coming back to rain fire and brimstone someday very soon. Are you going to be found faithful to Jesus? Or are you going to be found bound up because you were lied to by your brothers and sisters and you couldn't forgive them?

If we argue with God's instructions someone is trying to share with us who are we arguing with? Be free in Jesus Steven Bob :)

I have a friend who always borrows money from me and never repays. She's been my neighbor and best friend for 10 years. She always promises to pay me back. Now that my husband is gone it's harder to give her what she asks for, which is not always cash in hand, more like gas for taking her on errands, food, eating out, etc.. I've never asked or expected her to pay me back, even when I see her giving to others. I'll ask for her help on something small that I know she can handle instead. And i enjoy the company when we go eat. She's always glad to help. I've had a lot of people take advantage of me in breaking promises in more ways then just financially. I continue to help them because it's what God wants. If i hurt them then I hurt him. I figure what they do is between them and God and same with me. God takes care of my kids and I and I will do the same if he puts me in a place to help one of his children. My friend asked to buy my bed from me, I told her that I've never asked for money back from her and I knew she couldn't pay me so she could have it as a gift because we're friends. I love her dearly and I think she realizes that because when I need her she's there. But I didn't want to mislead her and be the cause of her telling lies. I'm thankful when God uses me to help someone. I'm grateful to be able to lend and not borrow and I thank God for all of it. We are to love one another as he loves us. And he speaks to us to guide us, to do what's right.

But in cases where someone is running a scam, or they ask for money for drugs or prostitutes, that's actually not doing good but encouraging them in sin.I say use judgement. Also, Jesus said,"let your yes mean yes, and your no, no",so by them making promises they can't keep, they're not in the right by Biblical standards, either.
