Disciple of Prayer
The college is giving me one more opportunity to make benchmark on the exit exam. I need God to intervene desperately in the name of Jesus to make this a smooth transition out of this nursing school.

We hear your cry for help and stand with you in this critical moment, lifting your need before the throne of grace. The pressure of this exam is heavy, and we understand the weight of what it means for your future. But remember, the Lord is your strength and your shield, and He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

First, we must rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that may be trying to take hold of your heart. The Bible tells us, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7). You are not alone in this battle, and the Lord is fighting for you. We declare that every obstacle standing in your way is removed in Jesus' name. Every doubt, every distraction, and every lie that says you cannot succeed is silenced by the power of His Word.

We also encourage you to lean on the Lord for wisdom and understanding. James 1:5 says, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." Study diligently, but do not rely on your own strength alone. Trust in the Lord to guide your mind and heart as you prepare. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one who is facing this pivotal moment in their nursing journey. Lord, You see the weight of this exam and the pressure they are under. We ask that You intervene in a powerful way, smoothing every path before them. Remove every hindrance, every distraction, and every spirit of fear that seeks to derail their focus. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Father, we ask for Your wisdom to flood their mind as they study and prepare. Open their understanding to grasp every concept, and let Your truth be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105). Strengthen their memory, sharpen their focus, and calm their nerves so they can walk into that exam with confidence, knowing that You are with them.

Lord, we declare that this exam is not a stumbling block but a stepping stone to the purpose You have for them. We speak success over their life and declare that they will meet and exceed every benchmark required. Let this be a testimony of Your faithfulness and provision. We rebuke every spirit of failure and lack, and we declare that Your favor surrounds them like a shield (Psalm 5:12).

Father, we also pray for their heart and spirit. Nursing school has been a long and challenging journey, and we ask that You restore their joy, their passion, and their sense of purpose. Remind them why they began this journey and fill them with hope for the future You have planned. Let this moment be a turning point where they experience Your grace in a fresh and powerful way.

We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your goodness and Your perfect timing. May this dear one walk in victory, not just in this exam, but in every area of their life. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus. Amen.

Hold fast to the promises of God, dear one. This is not the end of your story but a chapter in the testimony of how the Lord brought you through. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). You are not walking this path alone, we are standing with you in prayer, and more importantly, the Lord is by your side every step of the way. Press on, and do not grow weary, for in due season, you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9).

It’s hard to overstate the pressure of an exam like this, everything you’ve worked for, all that study and clinical practice, hinging on this one more chance. We’re with you in asking God to carry you across the finish line, and we’ll keep praying.

Right now, we’re asking the Lord to steady your mind and help you recall what you’ve learned. You’ve put in the work; now let Him give you clarity and focus in the moment. And while you wait for test day, it might help to do something small that reminds you of why you started this journey, maybe rereading a note from a patient or a class that first lit the fire. That remembrance can quiet some of the fear and reconnect you with the calling, not just the test.

We’re also praying for a “smooth transition,” as you said. That doesn’t mean everything will be easy, but we trust God to align circumstances and people who can help you. When you walk into that room, you won’t be alone, He goes with you, and we’ll be lifting you up.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this nursing student who has been given another shot at the exit exam. Calm any racing thoughts, bring to mind exactly what is needed, and grant them clear thinking and steady hands. Let this test be a doorway into the work You’ve prepared for them. Surround them with Your peace that goes beyond understanding, and help them feel Your presence in this wait. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Your plea for prayer has reached the ears of the church, and we are lifting your case before the throne of grace. The final opportunity for the benchmark stirs your soul to desperation, and that is no bad place to be, for when we are at our wit’s end, we find that Christ is at the beginning of His mighty workings. You have cried out in the name of Jesus, and that name is the key which opens the treasury of heaven. Desperate cases, like yours, like the demon-possessed child who foamed and tore himself, are the very ones in which our Lord delights to display His power. When the disciples quailed and the scribes sneered, Jesus came down from the mount and rebuked the foul spirit. So shall He come to your aid, rebuking anxiety and unbelief, and giving you clarity of mind and recall of learning when you sit before that examination.

Yet do not mistake the nature of His help. You have asked for a smooth transition, and that is a right prayer, but often the royal road to our crown passes over the foul Brook Kidron. David the king, betrayed and weeping, crossed that dark water in deep sorrow. So too may this hour feel to you, a time of acute distress, a torrent of fear and pressure. But mark this: the King Himself passes over with you. The Lord Jesus is no stranger to the way of grief. He goes before you into that examination room; He sits beside you as you write; He knows the weight of your calling to serve as a nurse, a vocation of mercy. Cast your burden upon Him, for He cares for you.

Do not imagine that prayer excuses laziness. You are put to school with God, and He is the best of teachers. You have studied; you have labored; now, like a child at its mother’s knee, cry, “Teach me to do Your will.” Ask Him to quicken your memory, to steady your hand, to bring to light the knowledge you have laid up. And remember that the same power which raised Christ from the dead is needed to conquer the smallest difficulty, and it is available to you who believe. Pray still, and pray with importunity, but also rise from your knees to do your utmost, leaving the outcome with Him who numbers the hairs of your head.

The church is praying. Let this comfort you: the living God takes pleasure in making crooked things straight and rough places plain. And if it be His will that this test be passed, He will make the way smooth before you. But if, in some inscrutable wisdom, He ordains a different path, know that He is still your God, faithful and true. A poor woman once begged for a cast-off lamb and nurtured it with a sucking bottle until it flourished. So does the Good Shepherd carry the lambs in His bosom. You are poor in spirit, weak and trembling, but you are carried. Fear not; only believe. We shall continue to wrestle with the angel on your behalf, and we look for the report of God’s delivering hand.
