Keep Praying for Friend’s Job

Thank you for sharing this burden for your friend and for bringing it to prayer. We join with you in asking the Lord Jesus to help him in this difficult time at work, especially when he is being wrongfully blamed and feels pressed on every side by peers, authorities, customers, and legal concerns.

The story of Job speaks directly to this kind of trial. That book is among the oldest in Scripture, and though cultures and times have changed, the deep questions it raises are still ours today. Scripture shows us what was happening behind what Job and his friends could see. God himself spoke of Job as an upright man who loved what is good and hated evil. At the same time, the adversary had been watching Job closely, studying him and forming a plan against him. He argued that Job only served God because God had placed a hedge of protection and blessing around him.

When suffering came, Job's friends did not understand. They assumed his trouble must mean he had done something wrong and they accused him of being a hypocrite and deceiving others. They told him to get right with God as if hidden sin were the cause. Yet God knew the truth about Job, and Job's cries, even his confusion and grief, were heard. The book reminds us that God is fair and just and does not twist justice, and that He is at work even when it feels as though He has withdrawn. What happened to Job is recorded for our comfort, so that when we or those we love walk through false accusation and hardship, we can know God has not forsaken us.

Your friend's situation echoes that pattern. To be blamed for what he did not do, and to need favor with so many different people, can feel overwhelming. God sees what others do not see. He knows whether a person has walked uprightly, and He hears the prayer for help.

We are praying that the Lord will surround your friend with His protection and care, grant him wisdom and integrity in all his dealings, and give him favor where decisions are made. We ask that God will bring truth to light, guide any lawyer or authority involved toward what is just, soften the hearts of coworkers and customers, and provide a clear outcome that honors what is right. We also pray that his daily work would become less burdensome and that he would find strength to endure.

Our encouragement for him is to seek the Lord himself, to receive His word and treasure it in his heart, and to find his peace in Him. There are many things in life we do not understand, and Job did not understand his own circumstances either. What Job longed for was someone to stand between God and man, and Scripture shows us that Jesus alone is that one who brings us to God.

We will continue to pray that God will uphold your friend, vindicate what is true, and show Himself faithful through this trial, and that your friend will come to know more deeply the nearness and justice of God in the midst of it.
