Save Friend’s Job

Dear Lord Jesus, Please help this friend of mine safe job protect it let him be able to work. How about at least a year or even a year and a half. But a little over a year and a half and then he can move on maybe to another place after or if you can find other jobs, other departments are nearby please let that be a reality. In Jesus Name AMEN.

We join you in bringing your friend and his job before the Lord, and we thank you for interceding for him with such care and compassion. It is a good and loving thing to stand in the gap for a friend and to ask God to provide stability and provision for him. We know that work is a gift from God and that He is sovereign over every opportunity and every open and closed door.

We are encouraged by what Scripture tells us about God's provision and our work. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23. Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed Proverbs 16:3. We also cling to the promise that my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19. And we remember that for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. God sees your friend's need for stability for this next year and a half, and He also sees the future beyond that, whether it is remaining where he is or moving to another department or place nearby.

We pray together for him now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up this dear friend to You. Lord, You know his job, his workplace, his supervisors, and every circumstance surrounding his employment. We ask that You would protect his job and allow him to continue to work and provide for his needs. If it is Your will, grant him stability for at least a year or a year and a half as has been asked, and establish the work of his hands upon him Psalm 90:17. Give him favor with those in authority, diligence and integrity in all his labor, and a testimony of faithfulness that honors You. Lord, we also ask that You would open doors for the future, that if there are other jobs or nearby departments that would be a good fit according to Your will, You would make that reality clear and guide his steps. We trust that You will lead him to the place where he can best serve You and use the gifts You have given him. Provide for him daily, give him peace instead of anxiety, and help him to trust You for each day's provision. We pray that he would seek You first in all things and that he would know that his ultimate security is in You, not in any position. We ask all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray for your friend and to encourage him to walk faithfully with the Lord, to work with honesty and excellence, and to trust God with the outcome. We also encourage him to commit his way to the Lord in prayer concerning his future, asking for wisdom and guidance. God is faithful and He hears the prayers offered in Jesus' name, and we trust He will provide what is best for your friend in His perfect timing and will.

For some people that is regular prayer together, for others it is practical help like thinking through internal opportunities or simply having someone to talk with as he considers options. Following his lead keeps your support a comfort.

Father, we lift this dear friend to You in Jesus name. You see his work, his needs, and the future only You know. Provide for him, give him wisdom and favor at work, and open the right doors in Your timing. Give him peace as he works each day and give our friend who prayed the words to encourage him well. Your earnest prayer on behalf of your friend has been heard and we join our hearts with yours in bringing it before the throne of grace.

It is a blessed thing to stand as an intercessor for another, even as we read that the Lord turned again the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends. There is power and mercy in such unselfish pleading, and we take encouragement that God delights to hear the cries of His people for one another.

We have entreated the Lord Jesus that in His wise providence He would preserve your friend in his present employment and grant him continued labour for the season you have mentioned and beyond, if it be according to His good will. We know that our times and our stations are in His hands, who both gives and takes away, and who is able to make our glory fresh within us and to renew our strength like the bow that abides in strength. If it be for his good and for the glory of God, we ask that this position may be secured to him for this year and more, and that in due time, should a change be needful, the Lord would in His kindness open another door nearby, in another department or place of service, so that he may continue to provide for his needs and walk in honest industry before men.

We exhort you and your friend to imitate patient Job, who sinned not nor charged God foolishly in the day of trial, but fell down and worshipped. Let your trust rest not in the certainty of any situation, but in the living God who upheld Job through great loss and at the last restored him abundantly. Though we ask for this mercy, we submit all to the will of our Father, believing that our sorrows shall have an end when God has gotten His end in them, and that He will withhold no good thing from them that walk uprightly.

May the Lord grant your friend grace to labour faithfully, to be content in every state, and to look above all to Christ Jesus, in whom alone is salvation and through whom alone our prayers are accepted.

We pray together that the Lord will keep him, sustain the work of his hands, and lead him in the path which is most for his eternal good. In the name of Jesus Christ our only hope and Redeemer, Amen.

Your faithful intercession for your friend is a true mark of Christian friendship, and it is good that you have brought him before the Lord. A genuine friend, as we have been taught, prays for his friend as for himself, and even asks others to pray for him first. Your care for his daily bread and his stability shows that love in action.

We can also remember the example of Job, who when tested by the loss of all things still stood firm because he had God as his friend. When God is favorable to us, we need not fear what man may do, and we can trust Him even in uncertainty about work and provision. To have God as our friend is greater than any security this world can give, though He also in His mercy provides for our daily needs.

Let us pray together for him now.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we lift up this dear friend to You. You know his work, his needs, and his desire to provide. We ask that You would in Your mercy protect his job and grant him stability to continue working, for the year and the year and a half that has been asked, according to Your will. Give him strength to labor with diligence and a good testimony in his workplace. If it is Your will for him to remain there, establish him. If You have another place or another department nearby for him, open that door in Your perfect timing and make the way clear. Provide for all his needs and let him know that his security rests ultimately in You. Keep him from despondency and teach him to trust You in every trial, as Job did, knowing that You work all things for good for those who love You.

We ask this in the name of Jesus, our only Savior and hope. Amen.

Continue to stand with your friend in prayer and encouragement, trusting that God hears the prayers of those who love Him and will provide what is best.
