We join you in lifting up this man before the Lord, and we share your burden for justice and truth to prevail in this difficult situation. Our hearts are moved by his fear of being separated from his daughter and by the injustice of being falsely accused, and we bring this whole matter before our God who sees all things and judges righteously.

The Lord loves justice and hates falsehood. We are reminded that For Yahweh loves justice, and doesn’t forsake his saints. They are preserved forever Psalm 37:28. We also remember It is joy to the righteous to do justice; but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity Proverbs 21:15. Scripture is clear about the seriousness of a false accusation, You shall not spread a false report. Don’t join your hand with the wicked to be a malicious witness Exodus 23:1, and You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor Exodus 20:16. To bear false witness against another, to use partiality or racist hatred, is sin before God, for Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism; but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him Acts 10:34-35. Every person is made in the image of God Genesis 1:27, and to insult or demean another because of race is contrary to His heart. We also know God calls us to Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed Isaiah 1:17 and to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God Micah 6:8.

We also want to gently and lovingly point out that this request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We do not say this to condemn, but because we want you and this man to know the full hope we have. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. Jesus himself said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God in prayer, and only through faith in Him that we have forgiveness and eternal life, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. We encourage this man and you to put your complete trust in Jesus, to confess any sin, and to walk with Him, for He is our advocate and our true defender.

We encourage this man in these next two weeks to remain truthful, calm, and respectful toward the authorities God has placed over us, while trusting the Lord to be his vindicator. He should seek wise legal counsel and cooperate honestly with the court, knowing that even judges and officers are under God’s sovereign eye. We also encourage him not to return evil for evil or to harbor hatred toward his landlord, even though the insults and provocation were wrong. Scripture says Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. At the same time we stand against any injustice and pray that truth will be made clear, whether through lack of evidence, honest testimony, or the conscience of the landlord.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and ask for Your mercy and justice for this man. You know all that happened in that house, every word spoken, every action taken, and You see whether a blow was struck or a lie was told. We ask that You let truth be revealed at this hearing. If he is innocent as he claims, we pray You would cause this case to be dismissed and that no jail time would separate him from his daughter. We pray for his daughter and family, that You would give them peace and provision and guard them from fear. We pray for the landlord, that You would convict his heart if he has given false testimony, that he would repent and tell the truth, and that any racism or hatred in his heart would be exposed and healed by Your love. We pray for the police, the attorneys, and the judge who will hear this case, that they would act justly, discern the facts with wisdom, and not show partiality Deuteronomy 16:19. Lord, calm this father’s heart and let Your peace guard him, for You have told us In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. May this man seek You first, trust in Jesus for salvation, and walk in integrity before You and before the court. We ask all this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our righteousness. Amen.

We were glad you brought ### to us in prayer, we can hear how heavy this has been for you to watch someone you care about be accused this way and face the fear of being separated from his daughter.

Being called names in your own home, then being arrested when you say you did not do what you are accused of, would leave anyone feeling vulnerable and anxious while waiting for a hearing. It is understandable you want the truth to be heard clearly and for ### to be treated fairly.

We are praying with you for truth to come out in that courtroom and for wisdom for the judge and all involved. We are also praying for steadiness for ### in these next two weeks of waiting, and for peace for his daughter as her dad carries this worry.

A practical way to come alongside him right now is to help make sure he does not face this alone. If he does not already have an attorney, helping him connect quickly with a trusted defense attorney or a local legal aid office is an important step, and anything you can do to help him get that appointment soon matters. It can also help him to write down a timeline of what happened while it is fresh, and to gather any messages, receipts about rent or the deposit, and names of anyone who may have seen or heard the exchange, to share only with his attorney. And if the court allows, having a calm, supportive person with him on his hearing day and helping with care for his daughter can ease some of the fear of walking in alone.

Father, we lift ### to You. You see what happened and You know his heart as a father and a son. We ask that what is true would be made clear, that the judge would act with fairness, and that his landlord would speak honestly. Guard ### from overwhelming fear, watch over his daughter, and give all of you wisdom for each next step. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer concerning ### has been laid before the Lord and heard with sincere compassion and burden for him and for his daughter.

We live in a world where justice is often unsteady in the hands of men, for we hold the scales with an unsteady hand and our judgments may err, but the Lord is a sure observer and no false witness. He sees not only the outward act but the motives of the heart, and all that He saith concerning us is true. It is a grievous thing when a man is accused falsely, for the Lord hates lying lips and has commanded that we speak the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, with heart going with tongue. To bear false witness is to offend against that justice which God will by no means set aside.

We are reminded that God is slow to anger, and His lictor carries the axe bound up in rods, for He will not cut off men until He has reproved them and given space for repentance. Yet He will not at all acquit the wicked, and His justice must be vindicated. Earthly courts may mistake, but there is a higher court where every word is weighed, and at last every hidden thing shall be made manifest. How needful then that all who are concerned, whether accused or accusing, should speak honestly before God and before men.

We have therefore prayed that the Lord in His mercy would cause truth to shine forth in this hearing. We have asked that if ### be innocent of this charge, the truth may be clearly seen and that no mark of false accusation may remain upon him, and that the landlord may be led to speak honestly and without guile. We have prayed that the magistrates and all who judge may be given wisdom to discern between the true and the false, and that justice, tempered with mercy, may be done. We have prayed also for ### himself, that he may be kept from fear and sustained for the sake of his daughter, and that he may know that peace which comes not from the verdict of man but from being justified before God.

And this leads us to speak of a greater justification. There is a false justification which is self justification, which is self condemning instead of self justifying. No man can stand before God and plead that he has never used a false word or harbored a vile motive, for conscience itself will say, Lord, that is true. Our only hope is that Justice itself has been satisfied at the cross. There Jesus freely gave Himself up to die, that the justice of God might be vindicated and that God might be just and yet the Justifier of him that believeth in Jesus. When Justice says, Sinner, thou hast sinned, the believer may answer, Justice, thou hast punished all my sins in my Substitute. O that ### and all who love him may look to that blessed Substitute and find there not only a just judge but a merciful Saviour.

May the Lord keep you and ### in these two weeks of waiting, grant you calm trust in His sovereign hand, and cause that which is right and true to prevail. May He draw each heart to repentance where repentance is needed, and to faith in Christ where alone there is pardon.
