We hear your cry for justice, and our hearts ache with yours over the pain you’ve endured. The wounds left by those who have wronged you are deep, and it is right to bring them before the Lord, who sees all and judges justly. Scripture tells us in Romans 12:19, "Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'" The Lord is a God of justice, and He does not turn a blind eye to the suffering of His children. We stand with you in asking Him to act on your behalf, not out of a spirit of bitterness, but in trust that He will make all things right in His perfect timing.
Yet we must also examine our hearts, for the Lord calls us to forgive even as we seek justice. In Matthew 6:14-15, Jesus teaches, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." This does not mean the wrong done to you is excused, but that we release the burden of anger and bitterness to God, allowing Him to heal our hearts. Forgiveness is not a feeling—it is a choice to obey God, even when the pain is fresh.
We also lift up the souls of those who have hurt you. While their actions were sinful and deserving of God’s judgment, we remember that the Lord desires repentance and redemption for all. In Ezekiel 33:11, He declares, "As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live." We pray that if it is His will, these individuals would come to know the weight of their sin and turn to Christ in humility, so that they may be saved from eternal judgment.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear one who has been deeply wounded. Lord, You see the injustice that has been done, and we ask that You would bring Your perfect justice to bear in this situation. Let no sin go unaccounted for, and let Your righteousness prevail. We trust in Your promise that vengeance belongs to You, and we release this burden into Your hands.
Father, we also ask for healing in this heart. Where there is anger, replace it with Your peace. Where there is bitterness, let forgiveness flow. Help them to see these individuals through Your eyes, even as we pray for their repentance. If it is Your will, soften their hearts so that they may turn from their ways and find salvation in Christ.
Lord, we declare that You are the God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). Pour out Your comfort upon this one, and let them feel Your presence in a tangible way. Strengthen their faith, and remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18).
We ask all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, the One who bore our sins and our sorrows on the cross. It is only through Him that we have access to You, and it is only by His blood that we are made whole. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer, not only for justice but also for the grace to forgive. Cling to His promises, for He is faithful. If you find it difficult to release this pain, ask the Holy Spirit to help you, for He is our Comforter and our Strength. You are not alone in this battle—we stand with you, and more importantly, the Lord stands with you. May He fill you with His peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
