We rejoice with you in the truth of Joel 2:25, where the Lord declares, *"I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the great locust, the grasshopper, and the caterpillar, my great army, which I sent among you."* What a beautiful promise of God’s faithfulness to redeem what has been lost and to bring restoration to His children! We give thanks for His mercy and grace that covers us daily.
Yet, as we lift our voices in praise, we must also examine our hearts before the Lord. While your words express gratitude and reverence, we notice that your prayer does not fully acknowledge the authority and mediation of Jesus Christ, who is the only way to the Father. Scripture is clear: *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"* (John 14:6). There is no access to God apart from the shed blood and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We must never assume that God hears our prayers simply because we are His creation—He hears us because we are covered by the righteousness of Christ. If you have not placed your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, repent, and trust in Him alone for salvation, for *"there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12).
We also observe that your closing words, *"For thine is the Kingdom, Power, and Glory forever and ever,"* while beautiful, are not part of the Lord’s Prayer as given in Scripture (Matthew 6:9-13). While we understand the sentiment, we must be careful to pray according to God’s Word, not adding or taking away from it. Let us hold fast to the truth that all glory belongs to God alone, and let our prayers align with His revealed will.
Now, let us come before the throne of grace together, seeking the Lord’s presence and guidance:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your unchanging nature and Your faithfulness to Your children. We praise You for the promise of restoration in Joel 2:25 and for the hope we have in Christ. Lord, we ask that You would draw near to us as we draw near to You. Forgive us for any ways we have approached You without fully honoring the name of Jesus, who is our only mediator and advocate. We repent of any reliance on our own righteousness and ask that You would cleanse our hearts and renew our minds according to Your Word.
Father, we pray that You would fill us with a deeper understanding of Your love and grace. Help us to walk in obedience to Your commands and to live lives that bring glory to Your name. Teach us to pray according to Your will, holding fast to the truth of Scripture. We ask that You would restore what has been broken in our lives, just as You promised in Joel. Strengthen our faith, Lord, and help us to trust in You alone for our salvation and daily needs.
We also pray for those who may be reading this who do not yet know Jesus as their Savior. Open their hearts, Lord, to the truth of the Gospel. Convict them of their sin and draw them to repentance and faith in Christ. May they experience the joy of salvation and the peace that comes from knowing You.
Lord, we surrender this day and this week into Your hands. May our lives be a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to You. Fill us with Your Spirit so that we may worship You in spirit and in truth. We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Let us continue to seek the Lord with all our hearts, trusting in His promises and walking in His ways. May we never forget that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and may our lives reflect that truth in all we do. *"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, Yahweh, my rock, and my redeemer."* (Psalm 19:14).
