Job Struggle

Please pray that God would make a way for me in my career and provide the right job at the right time. I recently interviewed for a position that I truly felt was meant for me, and I’m asking God for favor with the hiring team and, if it is His will, for this opportunity to become mine. After nearly nine years of struggling to find the right path, I’m asking for provision, restoration, and clear direction.

We are joining with you in prayer and we hear the weight of nearly nine years of struggling to find the right path, and the hope you have placed in this recent interview. We know how exhausting prolonged waiting and uncertainty can be, and we bring your request for provision, restoration, and clear direction before our Father together in Jesus name.

We love your heart that you are asking if it is His will for this opportunity to become yours, because that surrender is exactly where God wants us. His Word reminds us to trust in Yahweh with all our heart, and not lean on our own understanding, in all our ways acknowledge him, and he will make our paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. He also promises For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. Even this long season is not unseen by Him. He directs our steps Psalm 37:23 and He promises to restore what has been lost Joel 2:25 and to supply every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19.

We want to gently encourage you about something we noticed in your request. You asked God for favor and direction, but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to share this in love because it is so important. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. When we pray in Jesus name, we are coming by the blood He shed for us and trusting that His sacrifice has made a way for us to be heard and forgiven and reconciled to God. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to come to God the Father through Him.

We also want to encourage you as you wait for this hiring decision. God is able to open doors that no one can shut Revelation 3:8, and He also in His wisdom sometimes closes a door to lead us to something better, for we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose Romans 8:28. Whether this specific position is the one or not, we pray that you will continue to do all your work as unto the Lord and not merely for men Colossians 3:23, and that you will seek first Gods Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up our brother or sister to You. Thank You that You see these nine years of striving and waiting and You know the discouragement and the hope that has risen with this interview. Lord, we ask for Your favor with the hiring team, and we ask that if this job is Your will and Your best for this life, that You would make a way and grant this opportunity. If it is not Your will, we ask that You would close this door clearly and in Your mercy provide the right job at the right time, one that uses the gifts You have given and provides for every need. We pray for restoration of what has felt lost or delayed, establish the work of their hands upon them Psalm 90:17, and give them clear direction and wisdom, for You give wisdom generously to those who ask James 1:5 and You promise to instruct and teach us in the way we should go Psalm 32:8. Give peace while waiting, guard their heart from anxiety, and help them to rest in Your perfect timing and provision. We pray they would draw near to You through Jesus, grow in faith, and know deeply that You are their provider and shepherd. We ask all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking Him daily in prayer and in His Word, to remain diligent and faithful in applying and preparing, and to trust that He who has led you this far will not abandon you now. He is faithful and He hears you when you call upon Him through His Son.

If you have not already, a brief thank you to the interviewers keeps communication warm. Then consider talking with one or two trusted people who know your work and character, a pastor, mentor or former colleague, and walk through what drew you to this role and how your interests, experience and values line up with it. That kind of honest reflection and wise counsel can bring steadiness no matter the outcome and help you take the next faithful step.

Father, we lift our friend to You. You see the years of struggle and the hope tied to this interview. Provide for daily needs, quiet anxiety in the waiting, and make Your direction clear. Give wisdom to the hiring team and peace to our friend as You lead forward. In Jesus name, amen.

Your request has been heard and we bring it before the throne of grace with you, asking the Lord to make a way where no way appears and to give clear direction according to His perfect wisdom.

Nearly nine years is a long and weary waiting, and we do not lightly pass over the weight of it. Scripture shows us Job, who knew what it was to sit among ashes and to see his former glory fade, and yet it is written of him, In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. He arose and tore his mantle and fell down upon the ground and worshipped. That is the triumph of a gracious spirit, to worship still when the way is dark, and to come unto the Lord in childlike confidence even when He seems to frown. May the same grace be given to you, to keep right with God in the trial and to trust Him to uphold you as He upheld Job.

We remember also that Job had heard of God, but afterward he saw Him more nearly and said, I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes. There is a freshness that God gives when the eye of faith rests upon Him. Job said, my glory was fresh in me and my bow was renewed in my hand, and though that freshness was for a time withdrawn, the Lord in His mercy restored to His servant twice as much as he had before. Our God is not straitened in provision. As a good captain makes provision for every emergency before the need arises, so the Lord has laid up provision for His people, and there is forgiveness, freedom and favor in His hand.

So we pray for you now, that the Lord would grant you provision for this present need, restoration of what the long years of struggle have worn away, and plain direction in this dilemma. We ask that He would give you favor with those who consider your application, and that if this position be the one He has prepared for you, He would open the door that no man can shut, and if it be not His will, that He would as clearly close it and guide your steps to the right place at the right time. We ask that He would keep you from unbelieving speeches and anxious thoughts, and give you patience to wait upon Him and strength to worship Him while you wait.

May the Lord, who loves to display His favor and His love toward the objects of His choice, show you His good will and make your way plain. We commit your career, your daily bread, and your future into His faithful hands, trusting that He who has begun a good work will perfect it in His own time and for His own glory. Amen.

Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
