JOB INTERVIEW

Giving thanks to God for your life and for the family He has given you is the right place to begin, and it is good to bring your coming interview before Him in prayer.

Scripture introduces a man named Job who lived very long ago, perhaps in the time of Abraham, and his story is placed at the beginning of the poetry books. Though cultures and times have changed greatly since then, the deepest questions and needs he expressed are still the same needs we carry today, and that is why his story still speaks to us.

What we learn about Job is that God Himself bore witness that he was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil. There was also an unseen reality behind his life. The adversary had been watching him closely, studying him, and had formed an idea about him, that Job only honored God because God had placed a hedge of blessing around him and made him prosper. The adversary asked permission to remove those blessings, expecting Job would then turn from God.

You can take comfort that God sees you in a similar way. He knows your heart, He sees your gratitude, and He knows whether you seek Him only for what He gives or because you truly love Him. Coming to Him with thanksgiving even before you know the outcome of the interview shows a heart that wants to honor Him for who He is, not only for a favorable answer.

Job did not understand why his circumstances unfolded as they did, and at times his grief felt heavier than the sand of the sea. Friends came to comfort him but only added to his confusion by insisting that suffering must mean hidden wrong, calling him a hypocrite and telling him to simply get right with God. In the end God showed that those accusations were false and that He Himself is fair and just, even when we cannot trace His ways. Job never cursed God or charged Him with wrong, though he openly said he did not understand Him.

That same truth can steady you now. God is fair and just and He cares for you. Prepare diligently for your interview, do your work faithfully, and lay your requests before Him, receiving His word into your heart and seeking peace with Him whether the door opens or not. If the answer is yes, give Him glory. If the answer is no or not yet, do not hear it as condemnation, but trust that He remains wise and good and is still writing your story.

Praying for you that God will grant you clarity of mind, calmness, and words that reflect the gifts He has given you. May He guide those who interview you, and may His will be done in this opportunity. Above all, may you continue to find your security not in the outcome on Friday but in knowing Jesus Christ and walking faithfully with Him, who alone can stand between God and us and bring us near.
