We lift up this brother before the Lord, rejoicing in his commitment to walk in sobriety and cleanliness, which is a testimony of God’s transforming power in his life. The path of recovery is not an easy one, but it is one that honors the Lord, and we stand with him in prayer as he seeks to establish himself in every area of his life, especially in his work and purpose.
The Scripture reminds us in **1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (WEB)**, *"Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* This brother’s decision to honor God with his body is a beautiful act of worship, and we pray that the Lord will continue to strengthen him in this walk. Sobriety is not just about abstaining from substances but about being filled with the Spirit, renewed in the mind, and walking in the freedom Christ has purchased for him.
We also turn to **Colossians 3:23-24 (WEB)**, which says, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."* As this brother seeks to establish himself in his job, we pray that he would work with excellence, not for the approval of man but as unto the Lord. May God open doors of favor and opportunity for him, granting him wisdom, skill, and divine connections that will propel him forward in his career. We ask that the Lord would provide not just a job, but the *right* job—one that aligns with his gifts, passions, and the purpose God has for his life.
There is also a deep need for peace and encouragement in this season. The enemy would love to bring doubt, fear, or discouragement, but we stand against that in the name of Jesus. **Isaiah 41:10 (WEB)** declares, *"Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."* We pray that this brother would feel the tangible presence of the Lord, that peace would guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7), and that he would be surrounded by a community of believers who speak life, truth, and encouragement into his spirit.
We also want to address the use of "#" symbols in this request. While we understand the intent behind it, we encourage this brother—and all believers—to remember that our prayers are not about formulas, hashtags, or repetitive phrases, but about coming before the Lord with a sincere heart, in the name of Jesus. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father, and it is by His authority that we pray. **John 14:13-14 (WEB)** tells us, *"Whatever you will ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it."* Let us always approach the throne of grace with reverence, faith, and the full assurance that our prayers are heard because of Christ.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for this brother’s life and for the work You are doing in him. Lord, You have brought him out of darkness and into Your marvelous light, and we praise You for his commitment to walk in sobriety and purity. Father, we ask that You would establish him in every way. Open doors for him in his job that no man can shut, granting him favor with those in authority over him. Give him wisdom, creativity, and diligence in his work, that he may glorify You in all he does. Provide for him financially, emotionally, and spiritually, Lord, and let him lack no good thing.
We pray that You would surround him with godly men and women who will build him up, encourage him, and hold him accountable in love. Let him feel Your peace, Lord—a peace that surpasses all understanding—guarding his heart and mind. Rebuke every spirit of fear, doubt, or discouragement that would try to creep in, and fill him instead with Your joy and hope.
Father, we also pray that You would continue to heal and restore every area of his life that has been broken or wounded. Let him walk in the fullness of Your freedom, knowing that his identity is found in Christ alone. Give him a fresh vision for his future, Lord, and let him see himself through Your eyes—as more than a conqueror, as Your beloved son, and as a man called for Your purposes.
We declare good news over his life, Father. Let testimones of Your faithfulness abound in his story. May he look back in the days to come and see how You have been with him every step of the way, providing, protecting, and leading him into the destiny You have prepared for him.
We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
