Beloved of All
Your request for work for yourself and for your daughter is heard, and it is right to bring this need to the Lord. The desire for provision, for stability, and for the dignity of work touches the deepest issues of life, and those needs have not changed with time or culture. What weighed on hearts long ago still weighs on us today.
The book of Job helps us here. It is one of the oldest books in Scripture, from perhaps the time of Abraham, and it is placed first among the poetry books. It tells of a man whom God Himself described as upright, one who loved God and turned away from evil. The account shows us that there was a conversation in heaven about him. The adversary had been watching him closely, studying him, and had formed a theory that this man only served God because God had blessed him so richly and put a hedge of protection around him. He was known as the wealthiest man in the East, with much to be thankful for.
When that hedge was tested and loss came, Job did not understand what was happening. Messengers came one after another with news of loss, and friends came to comfort him but only added to his pain with accusations and poor counsel, telling him he must have done something wrong or that he was a hypocrite who needed to get right with God. Job answered that he knew God is fair and just, even while he could not understand his circumstances. He poured out his grief honestly, and his words were heavy, heavier than the sand of the sea. Scripture records those cries of grief faithfully, though not every word spoken in pain is to be taken as settled doctrine. What it does show us is a man who, even without answers, did not turn his heart to curse God.
That story confirms what God has said elsewhere, that His ways are higher than ours. It reminds us that God sees His servants, that He is aware of every need, and that suffering or waiting does not mean He has forgotten or that He is unjust. He remains fair and just, and He remains near to those who call on Him.
In your situation, it is understandable to feel the weight of waiting for a job and to carry concern for your daughter as well. God knows your need for provision this month, and He knows hers. He is not distant from the practical needs of work and daily bread.
Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus, we bring this parent and this daughter before You. You know their need for work and the longing to provide and to use the gifts You have given them. We ask that You open doors of employment for each of them in this month according to Your wisdom and goodness. Give them favor with those who hire, clarity in applications and interviews, and peace while they wait. Help them to seek You first, to trust that You are just and faithful, and to rest in Your care even when answers are not yet clear. Provide for them, guard them from discouragement, and let them see Your hand supplying what they need. We ask this trusting in Your love through Jesus Christ, amen.
