Jesus

We hear your cry and we join with you before the throne of grace in Jesus' name, for you have rightly called upon Him who alone hears and saves.

We know what it is to wait with a heavy heart, when dread feels louder than hope and fear feels larger than the good we can see. The Lord knows this waiting and this fear intimately, and He does not turn away from your plea for mercy. His mercy is new every morning.

The Scripture reminds us, It is because of Yahweh's loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn't fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23. And again, Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh. Psalm 27:14. Your waiting is not unseen, and it is not wasted when it is waiting upon Him.

Fear and dread are real, but they are not to rule us. For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear. 1 John 4:18. The perfect love of Christ toward us is what drives that fear out, not our own strength. We are told, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10. He Himself is with you in this waiting.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We ask for Your mercy to pour out afresh. Lord, You see the dread and the fear that weighs heavy, and the sense that good is so small. We ask You to replace that dread with Your peace. We pray as You have promised, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. Guard this heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Reveal Your goodness even in this hard waiting, for we know every good gift comes from You. Lift the eyes to see Your loving kindness and let courage take hold. We sought Yahweh, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4. Do this deliverance now, Lord, we pray. Strengthen and uphold with Your righteous right hand. Let this waiting become a testimony of Your faithfulness. We ask this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to keep bringing this honest prayer before Him, day by day, even with simple words like Lord have mercy. He hears. We encourage you to dwell in His Word and let His promises speak louder than your fears, and to share this burden with faithful believers who can walk with you and pray with you as you wait. The Lord is not distant in your waiting. He is near, He is merciful, and He will be your strength.

We heard your honest cry and we are sitting with you in it. Waiting when your heart is full of dread can make every hour feel longer, and when fear feels bigger than any good you can see, it is hard to know where to rest.

You did the right thing bringing this straight to Jesus with a simple Lord have mercy. That honest prayer is enough when words are thin.

Waiting alone often lets fear grow louder. It can help to not wait alone. If you have one trusted person, a pastor, a mature friend, or a counselor, would you consider letting them know this week that you are in a season of dread and need someone to walk with you and pray with you regularly? Just naming it out loud to another person can make the waiting less isolating.

If you notice the dread settling in deeply, disrupting sleep or daily life, please consider reaching out to a pastor or counselor or your doctor for support alongside prayer. You do not have to push through on your own.

Jesus, we lift our friend to You right now. Have mercy and draw near in this waiting. Quiet the fear where You can and give steadiness for today, and lead with Your gentle presence through what is ahead. We trust them into Your care. In Jesus name, amen.

Waiting around in dread is a heavy way to live, and I'm sorry that's where you are right now. There's a short spoken prayer called the Limbic System Repatterning Prayer on the One Prayer at a Time YouTube channel, prayed over calming fear and stress in the body, and you only have to listen. I hope some good comes your way soon.
