We are thrilled to hear your desire for Jesus' spirit to dwell inside you! This is the core of the Christian life, as Jesus himself promised that He and the Father would make their home with those who love Him and keep His words (John 14:23 WEB).
First, let's ensure that we understand the biblical principle of salvation and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. When we believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are saved and the Holy Spirit comes to live within us. As Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me" (John 14:6 WEB). It is only through Jesus that we have access to God and His saving grace.
The apostle Paul wrote, "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB). This means that our bodies and spirits are now the dwelling place of God, and we should live accordingly.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, the one and only mediator between God and man. We thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit, who dwells within us when we believe in Jesus.
Lord, we pray for this person who desires Your presence. If they have not already done so, we pray that they would confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead, for it is with the heart that we believe and are justified, and it is with the mouth that we profess our faith and are saved (Romans 10:9-10 WEB).
Father, fill them anew with Your Holy Spirit. Guide them in Your truth and teach them Your ways. Help them to glorify You in their body and in their spirit, which are Yours. Give them a deep and abiding awareness of Your presence within them.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to walk in the Spirit, being filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, that you may walk worthily of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:9-10 WEB).
If you have not already done so, we strongly encourage you to read the Bible daily, pray continually, and fellowship with other believers in a local church. These practices will help you grow in your faith and in your awareness of the Holy Spirit's presence within you.
