Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer for favor and help and for the suffering to end is heard, and God cares deeply about what you are going through.
One truth to hold onto first is that in Jesus Christ you already have the favor of God. He does not look upon one person with greater favor or honor than another. In Christ we are equally close to Him and equally in His favor, not because of any special position or outward religious act, but because of what Jesus has done for us. Favor is not something we earn by trying harder or by any outward show, it is a gift given through faith in Him.
The suffering you feel is real, and Scripture does not hide that suffering is part of life in this present fallen world. Since sin entered the world, creation itself has been under a curse, and we all experience its effects. That suffering is not always physical. It can be the pain of being misunderstood, looked down on for believing in Jesus, loneliness, or the ache of difficult relationships and circumstances.
The Bible also gives us perspective and hope in suffering. What Paul writes in Romans is that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us. In another place he calls our afflictions light and for a moment, yet they are working for us an exceeding and eternal weight of glory. This does not make the pain small now, but it reminds us that God is using even this season to do something lasting in you, and that the glory ahead with Him will far outweigh what you endure today.
Suffering, when entrusted to God, can cause roots to go deep. It develops character and strength and a depth that cannot be formed any other way. God can use what you are going through to form His nature in you and even to make your life a source of strength and comfort to others who will later draw from what God has taught you.
You also asked for good people in your life, and that is a godly desire. The Word of God is meant to be practical and to make every relationship better. One of the greatest helps God gives us is good, godly friends who will exhort and encourage us daily, who will come alongside when we are on dangerous ground or drifting, and point us back to Jesus. Ask the Lord to bring such people around you, those who share His divine nature through faith in Christ and in whom you can see the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. And pray that He will make you that kind of friend to others as well.
True riches are not found in having every problem removed at once, but in godliness with contentment. A person who is godly and content, who does not feel constantly in need of something else to be at peace, is truly rich. Scripture warns us not to trust in uncertain things like riches or circumstances, but to trust in the living God. Learning contentment does not mean you stop asking for help, it means you learn to rest in His care while you are asking.
So we pray for you that God will lift the weight of what you are carrying, that He will in His wisdom either remove the trial or give you deep strength within it, that He will surround you with faithful, encouraging people who walk with Jesus, and that He will fill you with His peace as you grow to be a partaker of His divine nature through His Word and His Spirit dwelling in you. As you continue to seek Him, add to your faith virtue, and to virtue knowledge, and to knowledge patience and godly character, trusting that He is forming Christ in you day by day.
May the Lord show you how favored you already are in Christ, give you contentment and hope in the midst of suffering, and lead you into the fellowship of people who will help you walk closely with Him.
